I installed the gm led bed perimeter lights on my silverado last night. This morning when I went out, I noticed a left and right rear turn indicator failure on the dic. I get 3 normal signal indicator then they are rapid. I also notice that only the lower tail lights work, not the top ones. Any ideas? Thanks

Are these the lights that plug into a distribution block in the back or did you splice into something?

Yes it plugs into the distribution block under the truck by the spare tire

Troubleshooting this without proper schematics will be cumbersome and you may need to defer to the dealership.

As already mentioned, I would disconnect and if functionality resets, I would look towards the light kit. If you are not electrical savvy, you may need to find someone who is and can put eyes on the problem as most help from the internet is going to have you shotgun the problem.

unplug them and see if it resets if so then you may have a ground in the harness for the lights

I unplugged them only at the lights and that did not help. I will unplug from the block tomorrow to see if it helps. Thanks

ok, unplugged the connector from the block and still have the same issue, checked the fuses and they seem fine. I am also thinking at looking at the flasher but just don't see how connecting these bed lights have anything to do with the brake/turn signal lights. I guess it is going back to the dealer. :nonod:

interesting, the flashing sound comes through the system speakers :freak: . I guess these are digital or something?? Last time I messed with a flasher was with my 72 Nova so I guess shows how much has changed

Weird. Hopefully you did not jam something into the wrong connection point on that Junction block. It is not warranty covered work if in the end you induced the problem.

Yes it comes through the speakers. It was like that on the 07-13 trucks as well. It also can not be turned off. :nonod: It's very annoying if you ask me. The dealer told me on my 09 it's there so you know it's on. However if the turn signal does not cancel after a minute or two then it chimes like the seat belt is unbuckled.

Ok found the problem. The light bulbs were burned out, don't see how/why I missed that, doh (slapping the forehead). sorry for the trouble. Thanks for all of you that tried helping solve the issue.
