But - again WHY? Where is the convenience? I know it has changed, but alot of push-button start vehicles couldnt have remote start....cuz the key had to be in close proximity of the vehicle.

 

My buddy left his key in his pocket last winter we were valet'ing @ a nice steakhouse in downtown Boston, the valet guy drives like a block and a half and the infiniti dies, my buddy had to run back out give the key to the guy getting soaken wet.

 

My wife's MDX has keyless entry/remote start, we have 2 keys, unless I have my "Key 2" on me, I CANT PUT THE SEAT TO MY SETTING #2!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to manually adjust it every time, again - technology for technology's sake that ends up being counter-intuitive, the Acura "smart keys" are dumb as sh*t!!!!!

 

And when we both have they keys w/ us, they "fight" over what driver preferences take over, its annoying as hell.

 

Most push button starters are on the dash, but I've seen them on the center console, and some cars no have push buttons for the tranny in the center console - WHY??? Is it that much harder to move a shifter than it is to push a button? MY wife and I specifically avoided buying a 2016 MDX because of this, instead geting the 2015 model essentially the same but w/ a traditional shifter and proven 6 speed tranny (the 9 speed they just introduced...yeah....all set, it took them a few years to get this 6 speed right)

 

So - point of the rant, what happens when my wife's XL iced coffee gets knocked over by our kid or our dog and floods the center console drenching the push button start and tranny buttons? You don't have an answer? Neither did the dealer...he was like, "crap, yeah that may be a problem"

 

I don't like the electronic shift for the 4WD either, wish you could get an opt-out for a manual shift 4wd too...maybe I should've gotten that Ram Powerwagon after all, come to think of it its one of - if not the last gas powered "truck's truck" lol!

I'm with you on the push button start. I don't get it. I would never keep keys in my pocket so that means I then need to find a spot to put it each time I drive and remember to grab it when I leave. Plus with all the different cars I drive for work, I still see it being half baked technology. It doesn't always work right. Especially Nissans for whatever reason. Half the time the door unlock works but the alarm goes off. A simple key has yet to fail me.

Im on my second new Silverado since 2007(had a new 07 and now a 14, bought the 07, leasing the 14) The 07 I had was complete junk, at the time though I felt the truck was ahead of its peers in styling and what it afforded. Fast forward to the 14, its a nice truck but I don't love. I still feel since about 2010-2011 GMs trucks have either been behind or just keeping par with its competitors. GM to me just doesn't have the options or the ingenuity that others offer. Theyre packaging is more of a take or leave approach you can either have a 35-40k truck with a few things or have to spend 50 to get everything. None the less GM trucks I think are nice, its just if Im going to spend 40-50k I don't think GM provides the best product and choices.

 

My lease is up next year so I wont be back in a GM, either be looking at ram or ford. So I really don't care what they add. But what I do think is coming is all aluminum, and I also think an alternative engine is coming in terms of turbos or diesels.

People always say this, well about the Corolla. But its two different things. Push button start can be had in lesser cars for a few reason. One is cost. A Hyundai may cost only 20k so adding in another 500 in parts for isn't a big deal. but adding in 500 to something that cost 40k might be. Plus if you look at what a lot people suggest that would mean adding thousands to a truck people already complain cost to much. Plus the car world is different. Hyundai can claim all of our cars have push button or its merely keeping up with corolla etc. trucks aren't necessarily entry level vehicles either like cars are. Trucks are for people usually who want to do something with that truck, hunt, tow, work etc and maybe push button start isn't that important.

 

My 15 challenger has button start, it operates flawless. and its nice that I never have to take the key out of my pocket. But I find it hard to think its the be all, and its more of novelty than anything else.

I used to only own Buicks, no trucks but I would wish for:

 

+ a good warranty (which makes sense)

+ solid products (in regards to optional stuff)

+ good quality in general

+ options should be options

+ stop selling bs for $$$

That's about all I want.

HUD is awesome. It might actually put me over the edge for a new truck. Love it in my car

I loved it in my 2002 Pontiac Bonneville. I wish my 2015 Denali had it.

What I think would be very nice is a 1/2 ton diesel. It worked really good for dodge and I'm sure GM has the tech to get it done.

The keypad entry from Ford. The keyless entry/push button start/ remote start from Ram, as long as it doesn't include designated keys with seat memory or anything else overly complicated. The rear sliding window from Toyota. Auto up windows at least in the higher trim levels. These are the features I wish were available.

I think they've done well because there was a lot of hype buying, Mix diesel with half ton it sets off bells. But when you figure the diesel Ram half ton has less power and capability than their gas engine it doesn't make sense. Plus the engine package cost an extra 3k and the fact diesel cost 50 cents more a gallon youll never get your money back on the investment.

 

Now its to bad Titan is junk because their new diesel truck will have massive power.

Ram ecodiesel only has 240 hp so it does feel slow when driving it. But with 420 lb-ft of torque it has no problem towing. My cousin has one and puts my 5.3 with 3.42 gears to shame with both fuel economy and ease of towing.

Will I will own 2016 soon hopefully but here is my wishlist

- Aluminium frame (Shedding over than 700+ lbs)

- Push/start button

- Rear Air vents

- 40+ gallon fuel tank

- Full retractable back window

- Flat rear floor

- Sport Edition with LT4 6.2L 650hp engine

 

This additions is definitely will let me buy one ASAP!
