Would be good to be able to have it so the fogs come on with both lows & highs automatically.

You can probably do both, just need to hook up 2 diodes.

You don't need diodes. Here's what I did on my '14 Sierra. Get a set of H16 female connectors (link below). Run a ground then to 12V source. I ran it to the fuse box with wire loom using a micro 2 fuse tap (link below) to fuse box shown below. This way the fogs come on when the truck is started and stay on whether on high or low beam and don't have to turn them on every time you start the truck as it is now. The factory harness or wiring isn't altered and no diodes to mess with. If you wanna go back stock, just plug the factory connectors to the fog lamps.

Here is what my LED lights look like at night, both low and high beams. No fogs on, just the headlights. Got a couple rouge spots in high beam mode but I am satisfied with what I have until a better option comes up.

The '16 2500 SLT is now using HID bulbs. Should work on the '14/'15's and if you want them on the SLE, the harness from Gen5 should work according to Jarod.

I have a 2015 Silverado, I noticed the 2016 camero had hid projector lights, could these hid bulbs be put in my Silverado? I have tried the hid route before and they were garbage! Never buy hid lights from carzenonkits! Never! The low beams just turned off after driving an hour... I would trust GM hid lights, and remember if you want bright lights don't get anything over 4300k! I am thinking of doing the dealer fix, it doesn't sound like it helps much, anyone done this? I just get by with my ridgid fog lights when I have the low beams on.

It can be done with a single diode - less then $2 at Radio Shack.

From this thread:

OK, well did the modification tonight. Instead of going to the High Beam, I went and ran my Diode into the 22 slot, which is the parking light signal. I tried the lights and everything functioned perfect. Lights on with Low Beams, High Beams, and when switched to parking lights they stayed on as well. All I can say is best 0.50 cent mod ever!!!!

That was an expensive fix by trading. You took a beating like that just for headlights. There was other options out there from FXR HID projectors to converting the '16 Sierra headlights which are a direct fit. Just waiting on the conversion harness.

Let me know how the conversion harness and direct replacement works out -- I would be willing to go the same route.

Although I believe GMC should pay the costs.

Below is a copy of the letter I sent them. Believe me, I don't expect much from this letter, but I'll at least let them know how I feel.

I'm thinking about a NTSB complaint and request for a recall -- this is a safety issue. I may be able to Include GMC's response to my letter, if they respond.

Added: I really like my GMC. Fixing the headlights is all it will take to make me love it.

ATTN: Complaints

PO Box 33170

Dear GMC,

I own a 2014 Sierra 1500 pickup, VIN 1GTN1TEH5EZXXXXXX.

My Sierra has terrible headlights. The halogen projector headlights are dim, weak, and unsafe.

[Name of Local GMC dealer] applied TSB #PIT5374 and upgraded the headlight bulbs with brighter Vosla HIR bulbs. The headlights are now a little better but are still dim and unsafe for use on dark roads or in the rain.

The design of the 2014/2015 Sierra projector headlight is deficient. The 2016 Sierra has much better HID headlights, which is proof that GMC is aware of the deficient design of the headlights in my Sierra.

I would like to see GMC fix my headlights by installing the kind of HID headlights that are found on the 2016 Sierra. Can you offer me that sort of help?

Sincerely,

[me]

It will be interesting to see what response, if any, you receive.

Nice catch, forgot about that one. I would buy the diodes online, ebay or the like. I paid about $4 for 50 diodes shipped to my door.

There is a free upgrade. Contact your dealer

If you mean the TSB (#PIT5374) -- that is an improvement but still not what the headlights should be. And there are indications the Vosla bulbs that go with the TSB have a short life (based on reviewing their product data sheets) and may grow dimmer with use (based on anecdotal comments earlier on this thread).

Yes the PIT is better but not great. I still have mine aimed up a little which helps but it's illegal. Projectors are designed to be used with HID. Period.

Had the tsb done on my truck Saturday, now with the first time driving the truck in the dark, it seems to be no better, maybe worse-can that be?

Checked the driver's side bulb and it is the Vosla, where the original was a Phillips.

Is there a specific orientation of the bulb when installed-currently they have it where the plug end is up at the "1:00" location.
