Tires and Wheels

I have a '14 Silverado LT. There is no lift on it. 18" tires. I was looking into getting a new set of tires. I hate the stock dealer tires that are on there. I like Nitto Terra Grappler G2 and BF Goodrich KO2. I think that would look weird though with the basic Chevy wheels on there. So I figured I would dish out some more cash for a set of KMC wheels. My question is, should or shouldn't I get a lift on the truck or will it be ok to leave it without?

If you're sticking with the same size tires as you have now than you can put whatever tires you want on it. If you're going bigger like 33"'s or 35's you'll need at least a leveling kit. (And I'm going to assume you mean you have 18" wheels, not tires). Wheel size won't effect clearance with a lift or not, but tire size will. You can get a 20" wheel and still have tires with the same diameter as a tire on an 18" wheel.

Definitely go with at least a leveling kit or, what I did, check out the Bilstein 5100 struts. They can give you almost 2" lift in the front. I run 275 65r18s and really like the look. It does look small at times when I see these k2s driving around with 6-9 inch lifts and 35s, but looks good nontheless.

November, yes I have 18" wheels. So what exactly does the leveling kit do? Am I better off getting like a 3" lift instead since those tires are more beefie or is it dependent upon the look in going for?

A leveling kit does just that, levels it. Usually raising it 2 inches in the front and 1 inch in the rear. It eliminates most of the rake ( hence the name ) and allows bigger tires to go on.

Ok thanks. I was looking at Tirerack for a wheel and tire package. But for some reason the BF Goodrichs that I like are not showing as one of the 'packages' they do for whatever reason. I want to get the KO2 tires with KMC Monster wheels. I'll have to call and see what they say.

For a beginner, like I was, this is what I did after reading 100's of pages on here. I did all my add ons before doing the level and tires. After the add ons I took several measurements on level ground through the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender and came up with the difference (rake). Then I decided on how big of a level I wanted to do combined with bigger tires. I wanted to keep the stock wheels and keep P rated tires but go the biggest I could find. Went with the motofab 1.5in front spacer and 265/70/18s (32.6x10.7) and it left me with .5in of rake. On my next truck, depending what measurements I come up with, I would like to do a 2in in front and 1in in back and keep between .5 and 1 inch of rake and put aftermarket wheels on probably +00 offset with the largest P rated tire I can find on whatever wheel size I end up going with.

You can run a 33" tire without a level. The only rub you will have is at full lock. I was running my 33's for a couple weeks before my 5100s came in and didn't have a problem. Only rub was backing out of the driveway at full lock and backing into my tight parking spot at work.

Hi guys i have a question i have a 2005 Avalanche z71 4x4 i found some nice 20's from a 2015 silverado i just want to make sure will they fit? the bolt pattern is the same everywhere i look (6x139.7) but the only difference that i can see is the Center Bore for the Avalanche is 78.3 and the one for the Silverado is 78.1 not sure does this affect it?

Go to my gallery, there are a few in there from before and after. Pics don't show much difference 2in total height in front and .5in height gain in back. It looks good next to a stock truck.
