Opinion; flares or no?

I’m interested in opinions; I’m having second thoughts on my flares.

But living in Florida they won't catch everything and cause rusting like in the snow belt.

The only acceptable use of flares in my opinion is to cover much wider tires. Your tires don't look excessively wide, so I don't think you need them. I prefer to look of the second photo.

 

Putting flares on without wide enough tires looks silly to me.

that^... an inch to inch and a half of poke looks good imho.   i would only use flares if my wheel tire setup stuck out a ton and the flares brought it to that 1-1.5 poke or flush.

Large Flares look better with a lift or wider tires.

I like my factory GMC flares.

Adds a bit of dimension and contrast to the openings.

I like the look of them. I’m looking to add a set to my ride eventually. My 295’s stock out far enough that I get road tar EVERYWHERE when I leave my house. The flares I’m hoping will help that.

I have a 6” lift with 35x12.50x18.

My tires stick out 2 inches which is why the flares were bought.

That’s my struggle.

I never had flares on any of my trucks, even my lifted diesel. Partly because I couldn’t stomach the price tag. Now I’m older and buying them wasn’t big deal but look is starting to sway my mind.

Personally, I like both views. It is just a matter of taste. The flairs give it an off rode modified look. I would leave them on, but in the end, it only matters what you think.
