Have any of yall recieved any type of compensation from GM or the dealers that you purchased your trucks from with these issues? If so what did you receive and did you ask for compensation or was it just given to you?

I’ve got the use of a POS silver Chevy Malibu. That’s the only thing I’ve gotten from my dealership. I haven’t asked for anything. It’s GMs issue. Not theirs.

GM keeps telling me that they want to give me compensation but they can’t tell me what. They only say I have to wait until my truck is repaired and then and only them can they talk about compensation.  Kinda like a health care law. Got to pass it to see what we just voted for

Sitting here thinking after reading about a lot of the issues you guys are having with quality of work done and the condition you receive your vehicle back in. In any other instance, this would be considered vandalism, it just so happens the dealer can fix it so it’s not.

The lack of respect some techs have for other people’s property is inconceivable.

As I mentioned previously I had my truck in for trans problems, and had them balance the wheels and tires. 3 out of 4 wheels came back damaged. Driving along tonight the (cover on the bolt hole) passenger A pillar handle fell off. Looks like the tech broke the clips on that.

I’m taking mine in later this week for the leaking window and am going to beg and plead with them to return my truck in the same condition I left it in. Unbelievable we even have to bring something like that up.

I have heard the same stories but pinned them down on a number in writing with email / text.  Haven’t received any of it yet since I haven’t actually gotten my truck back yet.  We will see

So after all the advice I've given him based on what I've read on here, my brother bought a 2019 SLT with a sliding rear window. I guess all I can do now is hope and pray it doesn't start leaking on him too soon.

Yeah, the automatic car wash theory is a red herring.

It's not the "automatic car wash theory", it is the "only cause ain't necessarily the window frame or window frame sealant theory" and sealing the frame alone may or may not solve the problem.

Even assuming the frame is not cracked and/or sealed 100% it addresses only part of the potential leakage problem. There is a thin, very thin, pressure fit gasket without sealant sandwiched between the metal body and the polymer spoiler. Spoiler is attached with screws and clip retainers that fit into holes in the metal roof that extend into the interior directly above the headliner. Leakage at any one of these holes drips onto the headliner which loosely rests upon the inside of the window frame causing the water to drip along the inside of the window onto the seats and floor. And, this will occur even if the rear window frame is cracked or not or even 100% sealed to the body.

So the best guess is this....and take it for what it is worth.....if the leak is due to a cracked or poorly sealed window frame then replacement of the frame will work, but if the leak is caused by leakage past the pressure fit gasket , that will not help and water entry will be through either a screw or clip hole in the metal roof. Been there, done that with the trunk leakage on my Camaro, dealer was constantly playing around with the lip seal while I found that leakage was past the gasket and through one of the screw holes through the trunk lid.....another time through a screw hole past a roof rack seal. Exhaust gases or coolant can find its way through a defective head gasket....the spoiler and roof are milled nowhere near the tolerances of a block or head, so likely water under pressure , or could just through a poorly fit gasket, can find its way through a hole in the roof into the interior.

Hand washing may not help if the gasket is defective, but certainly reduces the risk of entry under the spoiler seal.  Photos show the fine fit and finish of the body against the ultra thin gasket and at least a portion of mine will permit a piece of paper to get partially past the gasket seal......nopt forcing it becuase I don't wnat to create a leak........think a blast of 300 mph air could force water past that gasketDSCN0795.JPG.744f4e70aaf0aa9384e696ac89af6de9.JPGDSCN0800.JPG.618e0328eb0ae867880b3f026fa36dc0.JPGDSCN0798.JPG.c9802c10e0eea73a26213cdd932fa13d.JPGDSCN0797.JPG.5467836372b92ca0f34d490f745eb6ab.JPG?

For my .02 if it was me doing the repair each clip retainer or screw hole though the metal roof securing the spoiler would get a big glop of silicone rubber before replacing and anchoring to the body. This way if water gets past the spoiler gasket, it will not drip onto the headliner and compromise the interior.....and if necessary the spoiler could still be removed with a little bity of effort if necessary in the future.

This is their classic delay tactic. You will get something when done - accessory vouchers or maybe a months car payment. If you want real money for them "breaching warranty" you have to get a lawyer (who will of course take some of the money.) You're screwed coming and going.

Well I dropped my truck off this morning so lets see how well they can “fix” my truck.

Has anyone had any success after a repair? Just out if curiosity

Then in theory, no sliders could leak as well?

Yeah that's what I figured.  In fact I've already told them not to insult me with a cheap GM accessory (that I don't want to begin with or I would have bought the darn thing) offer.  So far I'm out Deer season with my son, approximately 175-200lbs of venison, the entire fall and early winter of astronomy(got to go out to the farm its too light polluted in town here), fall speckled trout fishing(cant pull the boat with a Malibu), cooking at church and other random events I use my pig cooker for,  Work(I can drive around but I can't haul pipe or water heaters or anything other than small parts), have to use my wifes car to take dogs to the vet, my wifes transmission(that one cost me $2,710.38) that went out after our trip to WV that I would have taken the truck, $500 tow bill to get my wifes car towed back from Ski trip, and no telling what I can't think of.  I'm sure GM is under the assumption that because I have a loaner and its being repaired under warranty that this isn't costing me anything.  Heck if I have to replace that deer meat lost with beef at 5.99/lb I'm out $1,048-1,200.00.

    • Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought.   Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s   Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks   Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with?  I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected..   Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned?    Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them?   I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
    • No one will care for you like you care for you. Do what you can for as long as you can. IMHO of course.
    • How about them NICKS!!!
    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
