Did they take your window out without removing the spoiler?

and that caked on yellow stuff looks like the original repair wasn’t done like the TSB requires....

doesnt look anything like other repairs on here

Yeah the rear window assembly is removed by removing the back seats to disconnect the electronics and then they can cut your window out with basically string. The glass guys will clean up the old caulk etc and just install it. It turned out better than factory. The spoiler doesn't need to come off for that purpose but they will remove the spoiler during the initial TSB caulk job.

 

As for the yellow stuff aka the caulk, it was applied as the TSB says to do so just in a crappy fashion. You have to remember dealer's and service techs don't really care about warranty stuff like this and are gonna half ass things.

I had GM forward the window and the bill to a third-party collision body shop for all my repairs moving forward. So, they did a bang up job on the window swap.

So service guy yesterday told me yesterday that one side's replacement panel was in Michigan but the side is on backorder. yay! :(

Well took them 21 days working on my, Thinking I've had it back for 2 weeks now, Initially I got it on a Thursday had to take it back on Monday seems they did the brake recall and broke it, they only kept it a day on that. So far no leaking.

I had brought my 2019 silverado in for the rear window leak and they repaired it using the service bulletin. I went in to go pick it up after the repair and told them i wasnt accepting it because their worksmanship for the repair, and also they did not clean up the rust that had built up on the bottom seat bracket. They called me back after the weekend and said it was g2g so i went to pick it up. There was still seam sealer left on the window and its visible between the glass and body. Minor issue because you wouldnt notice it if you werent looking. It looks like they tried to remove the rust with a wire brush and sand paper. They actually took off the paint in some spots down to bare medal. And i also noticed a white mark on the plastic trim on top of the sliding glass. Looks like some seam sealer made it onto the plastic and they used a harsh chemical to try and remove it. So after fighting with the dealership and GM i am scheduled to return the truck Monday to have a GM representative to take a look at it. Why does this process have to be such a PAIN. The dealership said i have to get with GM to figure out the next steps, and GM said that the dealership should be handling. No one knows their asses from a hat and as soon as they have your money it seems like they do not care whatsoever. What exactly is the GM rep going to do? Why does a gm rep have to look at it after it was the dealers fault their technicians are incompetent? I have had less problems with my 90s japanese shitbox. Very frustrating experience. Especially this being my very first new vehicle purchase.

Well.. guess you can add me to the list of leaky rear windows. 19 Sierra with a build date of 07/2019. Calling my dealer today to schedule an appointment to get this fixed.

 

I know this thread is lengthy, but any advice anyone can give thats dealing with this? Do i push for a full window replacement?

Best bet is to try and find a crack on that plastic piece up there and point it out because the TSB is to replace a window if a crack is there.  Absent a crack, they are supposed to do the caulk job and at that point you are at the mercy of whatever GM and the dealer decide to do. Good luck.  Keep checking in here.

Yeah tbh, just crack it if it's not visible. Save yourself the time and bypass the entire nonsense of the TSB.

Go ahead and call GM and escalate it to a supervisor so you can have a case # for record keeping purposes.

Other than that, it's just a time process of going and coming back and forth until it's done right. Stick in there everyone!

UPDATE: Took the trail boss down through the sticks and some mud in the pouring rain this weekend and the new window hasn't leaked yet. Still have that sense of paranoia though. Stellar.

Dropped mine at the dealer today for a new window, recalls and first service. Keep your fingers crossed for me . Once I opened a case with GMC, my window showed up in two days, my appointment was made and I got a loaner car, which I was originally told, loaner car, no way. I was told that about the loaner car because I had not purchased the car at the dealership I am having the service done. Don't let the dealerships jerk you around on this, open a case, document everything from the day you discovered your leak, be courteous and professional with everyone you deal with, and then keep your fingers crossed. I'll update on the other side.

I'm dying to know this as well. I just checked and mine has the same build date as a recent poster. I haven't gone through an automatic carwash yet (mostly because I was worried about the mirrors clearing. This truck feels wider than my last one) but we have had some heavy rains in the 6 weeks that I have owned it.

It would be great to have a compiled list of build dates and plants and even which truck/cab size that each one is.

I agree. I have no use for the little tiny opening in the back window and would gladly have taken a solid rear window if it meant never having to worry about a leak...

Curious as well. Is there a certain build date after which they have addressed/solved this problem?
