Rear window leak

I have experienced the same leak in the upper corners of new AT4. Less than 3000 miles. My dealership tried to fix it twice with a bead of silicone. Not the right fix. Looks terrible and still leaked. Felt helpless when dealing with them. Then it was sent to a supposed glass specialist. When I got my truck back the rear headliner would stay in place and there was a 12 inch scratched area of paint An inch wide scratched away on the roof above the third brake light. This specialist had scratched the paint away to the metal. My truck is now at the paint and body shop for repairs on a brand new truck. This sucks!!!

What year/build date is your AT4?

Don’t see many AT4’s leaking.

Well just a quick update. This supposed “no shipment” process apparently is a joke because I got a text message this morning that the back window came in this morning to the dealership (after discussing a buyback with the regional rep on Friday and telling me no back glass was being shipped).  So someone’s story isn’t adding up.  Amazing how things just ‘suddenly show up’

so I’m going to have a decision I suspect - accept the back glass replacement on my truck after it’s been held hostage since Nov 5th or continue going on pushing for a 2020 replacement buyback exchange.  Anyone have thoughts on which way you’d go?

So are these rams leaking also? Just curious bc they sold 10% more trucks than Chevy did this year? Or is it the rear seats that recline and slide making sales??

I remember reading somewhere (probably this forum) that the big 3 all have rear window leaks. However, it's possible that could have been so long ago that it was before the new Ram was released.

Just know the buyback process takes a good two months. At least mine did, but financially it was worth it because I went from a 2019 with 8,000 miles to an indentical 2020 with the 10 speed and sunroof and 100 miles for only a few hundred bucks out of pocket. But here I am again with a 2020 leaker. For the 10 speed alone I would make the jump to a 2020, although not all models have the 10 speed. Just know you might be right back here with your 2020 leaker.

They did give me an option of a straight buyback refund without a new truck, but I really didn't love the Ford or Ram so went with the 2020 trail boss. Other than the leak, it has been a great truck so far.

You can push but I believe it will not benefit you. Check your Lemon Laws in your state. Michigan for example is 4 repairs of the same problem that is not fixed or 30 days in the shop without being fixed. You must send a letter to the manufacturer after the 3rd repair attempt or 5 days before the 30 days runs out. This gives the vendor final notice and a last chance to repair the vehicle. You then can receive a buyback or a equal vehicle in return. Also if you hire a Lemon Law attorney and you win the case, the vendor is required to pay your attorney fees. Best thing to do is confer with an attorney specializing in Lemon Law [most will give free consultation] and see if you have a good case.  Ensure you can get pics of the vehicle before they start the removal process in and out to report any damage. Any damage will have to be fixed or paid for by GM to your satisfaction.  If the window gets replaced and they do a great job without damaging the vehicle then you probably are stuck.

I’ve had no issues with the 8 speed or anything else for that matter other than this window, so that’s why I’m considering staying with the devil I know.  Would hate to have another leaky window on a 2020 and go through another 2 months of waiting on a solution.

Sorry to be late to the game but where exactly should I be looking for this?  Does it only show up with water on back seat headrests?  If I put a hose to it (not sure this is necessary as I live in Oregon)  where are the key areas to check for the leak?  I came onto this tread a little late and I am way too lazy to read through all 60 pages.

Headliner, seats, pillar, etc.

It ain’t hard to spot once you look for it. Garden hose may or may not uncover it. Just check after some steady rainfall. If it don’t leak yet, it probably will.

2019 Silverado High Country, built in Indiana, May 2019. Lots of rain led to me discovering water on my drivers side rear seat shoulder. Appointment is made for tomorrow morning... we'll see how it goes.

Got my leaking window re-sealed on December 26th. Had a good long, steady rain 2 days later. No leaks.

Took it thru the automatic car wash today. No leaks. Surprised, to be honest. I still don’t think the re-seal will hold long term, but who knows. I have a Feb 2019 build, so maybe it will.
