Bought a 2020 Silverado Custom TrailBoss 2 weeks ago. The second day of owning the vehicle, I cranked the truck and had no power steering.  Took it to the dealership and they could not duplicate... less than a week later I had the same Electronic Brake Assist Failure message appear at 279 miles.  Had to put my full weight on the brake pedal to stop.  The dealership is replacing the master cylinder.  This is unbelievable.....

This is a bummer to read. 750 miles on mine so far and no brake issues (knock on wood), hopefully stays that way.

So far many people seem to have had it at slow speeds, but are there documented cases of it happening at high speeds too? And is the general consensus that it's a strictly electrical issue, or is a mechanical failure suspected too? I had read on another thread of some recall to update the brake booster programming, presumably that isn't fixing the issue for those that have it?

So today I got all four warning messages,

Brake system Failure

SVC brake assist

SVC trailer brake system

SVC ESC

and vehicle speed limited to 62 mph. So I drove an hour to the closest Chevy dealership, white knuckle the entire way in the rain!

After three hours they said it was fixed. Stating they found codes c2a17- hydraulic brake circuit excessive springiness and c05b0- brake circuit leak detected level two. ( tech noted zero leaking found) Noted that first hydraulic pressure test failed,  reprogrammed again and it then pass the pressure test.
So picked it up and drove approx. 50 miles and the SVC brake assist warning came back!!!!  So now what?   Should I wait for the entire laundry list of warnings to come  back along with no power brakes?  This is very frustrating.

Well guys, I posted back in October about my brakes failing with no codes.  Dealer had it for a week and could not duplicate.  I had to take it back.  Guess what... it did it again 2 weeks later with no codes once again.  Its been at the Dealer since Nov 8th, and they still havent fixed it, they have drive my truck over 300 miles now.  I only had 8k on it.  Anyway, GM is hard to work with,  many calls to Tier 2 doesnt help at all.  GM once again said they cant diagnose or repair and I was to pick it up and risk my life again.  I refused, and  I went ahead and emailed the CEO of GM (Mary Barra) directly last week describing my problem and service received from her company, this morning I got a call from the Executive office of GM.  They already were researching my case before they called me this morning and talked to the dealer and District Manager (that was a breath of fresh air and a great change of events).  They were just as frightened about my brake issue as I am.  They will be contacting me this week about “the next step” not sure what that means.  But they said my case has now been escalated to the executive level.  Anyway... hope my truck becomes confidently safe again, cuz my wife refuses to ride in it as of now.  Also, I dont have a loaner either because of some state law saying I cant have one for more than 30 days.  So my wife and I are sharing hers now.  Pretty nice for a 62k truck huh ?.  Its just comical to me now... if I dont laugh Id be pissed.

They always act concerned at first and will act like they haven't heard of this problem.  Soon enough they wont be calling you back and will make getting your truck fixed a nightmare.

My brakes went out a few weeks ago backing out of a parking spot. With no trouble codes the deal said they cant do much.  Its not like were talking about noises or minor issues. The effen brakes stoped working.

Just wanting to say hi and I'm new here but I had my 19 Denali in today for a recall to fix a brake issue where the brake pedal would almost go to floor before it would stop.   After the update to my truck it feels like it's supposed to.  Not saying this is y'alls problem but it definitely helped mine.

I have a 2019 GMC Sierra Evelation that I just picked up a month and a half ago. I had the same experience a few nights ago, started my truck to go home from work and the dash was lit up like a xmas tree, brake system failure , abs, traction, had to push down hard on peddle to get it to stop from a crawl. had it towed to dealer, next day they tell me its fine they could not duplicate problem said I needed to come pick it up and they needed the rental back!!! GM knows of this problem and they just dont give a crap! told me to let them know if it happens again!

Weird how the article says they are going to start Jan 27th. I was able to get mine in for next week.

Please read the thread about recalls before you do the brake recall

seems like they know now.  I just filed a complaint yesterday for this happening to my truck.

The brake recall seems to say it addresses an issue where you might not get an appropriate warning with a loss of ABS etc, but it doesn’t really say it addresses the actual power brake failures people have been having.

I just had the “brake system failure 62 mph top speed” “service esc” messages tonight. The CEL, T/C LIGHT, ABS and BRAKE lights came on. Lost power brakes and got got codes p25a2 p0606 c0021 and b0204. Turned the truck off and back on and the check engine light stayed on and the power brakes started working. Gonna take it in Monday to the dealer. Hopefully they can get parts pretty quick

My 2020 Sierra 1500 SLT crew cab had brake failure shortly after Starting  the vehicle Went through the first stop sign with maybe 5% Breaking power available. In the shop right now dealership gave me a loaner model until master cylinder is replaced and they say GM Is aware of this problem.
