Each generation just gets worse and worse for this company, how many here had their third brake light leak ?

Overall I think they are great trucks and vehicles, but remember- the more complex things become, the more that can go wrong.

I just stopped by the dealership this afternoon and they haven’t heard anything definitive from GM, except there’s no quick fix in sight. I was told to get used to the loaner for the time being. My buddy was told by his dealership 100 miles from me that the newest update would unveiled the last week of January or first week in Feb.

I think they are starting to standardize on the low voltage line.

I took mine in for the second time and was told the same thing.  The battery was low and that caused the computer to trip.  They got everything checked and cleared and told me not to use the app, but can use keyfob to remote start.  Picked up this afternoon.

Then about 10 minutes ago, my service advisor called me and said they heard even more from GM and that GM is advising not to remote start the vehicle at all (either fob or app) and that GM is aware and is expecting a software recall within the next 2 weeks.  Told me to be on the lookout in my app for the recall and schedule as soon as its out.  I hope that's true.  Can't say I'm pleased that I can't use remote start on my $67K truck in the middle of January though...

Dealer called me today and said GM is releasing a fix on Jan.17th. Not holding my breath but I hope this can be put behind us.

IMG_1171.JPGDo you see anywhere That it states a loss of braking Power? Just go into your dealer and tell them your peddle feels hard. Lol I feel for you guys and gals that made the same mistake I did. It wAs the the best looking and biggest pos I ever owned. Are you guys really going to depend on this truck now that you know the brakes will fail with any heavy processing load? Run it into a parked car at Walmart and let you insurance co get after GM

Another point, Low Battery Voltage? Are they saying the alternator is WAY to small so your battery voltage just drops as you are driving? Then you lose your braking? WTF, total BS. The tech that worked on mine always had a charger on it during system updates. That was 8 freakin months ago and standard practice. GM, is BS-ing ya all. To get mine to work, we shut off all the fun stuff, lane keep, crash avoidance, auto updates, cancel on star etc... just turn everything off possible and drive to your next favorite brand and trade in it. You and your family will be a lot safer.

Man I hope your dealer is correct, but I'm still being told mine needs the master cylinder and module. I'm going to take it back though if GM releases a fix, as my issues were when I started the truck with the app after the recall was preformed

Sorry to sound like a skeptic, but there’s no way a fix will be ready in three days time. If GM knew it would be happening on the 17th, I’d like to think that GM would be telling the dealerships to buy themselves some breathing room from the growing number of complaints. I hope I’m wrong,  but I don’t think so...

I agree here... I have heard the fix is going to roll out on the 27th of January but I feel like that is GM being hopeful at best. If they had a fix why wait to roll it out?

Correct me if I am wrong but I read this as.... If the brake failure appears the telltale warning lights will NOT illuminate warning the driver of the issue therefore possibly causing a crash. With most of us, the lights illuminated prior to losing brakes. I had a brake failure on December 21st AFTER this was supposedly already communicated to my dealer and AFTER whatever brake recall was done to my truck. Was this the recall they already performed on my truck before the failure??  Or is this a new one???

Thats how I read it also. The two Brake Recalls N192275630 [Brake Assist Feature - Ensure the Front Camera is braking the vehicle in a emergency condition] and N192268090 [Brake System Malfunction Warning - Lites may not lite up to warn the driver of an impending situation] and Seat Belt Pretensioner, I believe are part of GM's statement for the 27th rollout. They were rolling it out early but saying something else. Their Recall just happened to create problems they did not foresee. So the three recalls slated for the 27th rollout,  were being completed on vehicles in Dec 2019. It appears the Brake recalls just tipped the scales over for brake problems. Did these recalls cause battery drain to elevated problems that were just waiting to emerge or is it a coincidence that problems grew in the months of Dec and Jan? Either way there is a problem. There was a problem before on these vehicles before any software fix was applied where dealers were replacing the master cylinder, brake booster and brake module. But some vehicles continued to have the problems. Then the software fixes commenced and the problems rose in numbers. Vehicles that were not having problems started having problems. If it is a electical drainage problem, maybe we need a 2nd battery and a better energy management system. It seems I read something somewhere about a TSB for Battery Management. I do know if you left the vehicle in the full mode on [without the engine running and the ignition indicator is green], the battery will drain down to dead in a few hours.

I have read some who have had the brake module reprogrammed and the problem reoccured. Same with the Master Cylinder being replaced. Ive also heard some had the brakes bled. I don't think they have a fix and are currently throwing "fixes" out hoping for the best. It would be awesome to have actual numbers on affected vehicles, as well as the number of accidents and if there were any injuries. Hope they figure it out soon!

We have noted about 110 complaints here about brakes with some from the Facebook Posts. With 400000 vehicles sold last year, it is a small percentage but still a notable one since the problem concerns "Brake Loss". Add the Window Leak, Transmission Shudder,  Oil Cooler Lines, Infotainment / Camera Problems and the list and percentages go up a good amount. Actual numbers will not be released unless some whistleblower comes along. Maybe GM should interact with the Forums more and assign manpower to get communications out to the user. I am no fan of Comcast but their Comcast_Infinity group on Reddit is a good example of what a Corporate Helpdesk can to solve problems for it's users via the internet.

Don't forget oil cooler lines snapping off leading to engine seizure. Some of us hit Yahtzee...
