2020 - 3500HD Duramax @4000 miles

2018 - Jayco Northpoint 5th Wheel

2016 - Ranger Z518 Bass Boat (Surge Brakes)

Sometimes when I hook to the 5th wheel I get the error "Brake Gain Not Recalled".  When this error occurs it also feels like the brakes are not being fully applied when manually overridding (for a brake check).

Dealer has had the truck twice now , this time for 2 weeks.  GM is telling the dealer that both my trailers have bad wiring.  I did not have this issue with a 2018F450 pulling for 2 years.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Thanks

I get that error all the time. Sometimes shortly afterwards, I’ll get a message saying that the brake controller has been recalled.
Even if I don’t get that second message, when I confirm the controller setting, the preset output is always at the correct setting anyway.

I just associate it as one of the numerous glitches that this system had.

same here, I get the error about every 4-5 trailer connections, but other than dismissing the screen, the gain is set correctly, and everything works fine.

Ditto the above.  I find everything works best if the ignition is off when I plug in the pigtail. However, I've never had the trailer brakes not work properly regardless of the DIC message.  I just ignore the message if it says brake gain wasn't recalled.

Yes, like others have stated I get the error but it still sets the gain properly.
maybe next update will fix it.

There is a recall on the 1500 that I have I know for the break controller. I bet the HD are having the same issue.  I called to see if I needed to have it looked at before I pulled my trailer, the tech said it did not effect the operation of the break controller. Just if there was a perfect storm of things that happen, if I remember correctly, he said something like this would happen. I too get it regularly and always seems to be set the same.

Also a regular for this issue.  Hope GM is actually working on it!

Ditto, it has a mind of it's own

ITBS system is not quite ready for prime time. Taking my truck and camper to a RV tech to see if he can make it work.  Trailer brakes connect intermittently.  Some times I get the trailer brake gain not recalled.

Like everyone else, I also get this issue.  Occasionally it will even say "no trailer connected" but the brake gain still works.  When that happens, I shut the truck off and restart it and everything works fine (this has only happened a couple of times).  I figure it is a software glitch and hopefully a future update resolves it.

Ditto for me as well, I have had a few brake gain messages...but the trailer brakes always work.....but I always check before getting under way.
