Get a diminished value claim. That will pay you the diminished value of the vehicle after the repair.

I requested this on a past car, and the cost was so much they ended up totaling it out. I recommended a friend to do the same and he was able to get an extra $11,000 from the person’s insurance when his car was hit.

Sorry to hear about that though. Best of luck to you.

This... You can sue their insurance company for the depreciation if they don't total. Then use that money when you trade in the truck to buy another new one :)

yes thanks just some hip and back pain better than i though whe i saw that van coming right at me

I'm happy for you that your vehicle was up to current safety standards!  This impact on older trucks wouldn't have been so easy on you!  Be thankful you are relatively fine and focus on the positive.  Make sure you get fully examined by your physician.  The sooner after the crash the better.  I know from personal experience that this will be of interest to the insurance company responsible for the claim.  Their motivation to close the books on this claim will be elevated!

Good advice from Donstar, you said your had hip and back pain, although you think you're fine now, those type of injuries can reappear when you get older and may nag you the rest of your life, so by all means get checked by the physician of your choice. As far as your truck, in addition to the other damage already mentioned, your frame has probably been tweaked too, if insurance decides to fix it rather than total,  drive it before you sign off on the repair.

Damn, that sucks. Usually the vehicle has to be at a 70-80% to be considered a total loss. Only thing that might help get it totaled is airbag deployment and if they’re in structural damage.

For your sake, I hope they total it. They’re never the same after they’ve been wrecked.

This also upsets me seeing a beautiful truck like this get mangled like that.
I am such a fickle person that if it was me, I couldn’t keep it and would want it totaled out or fixed and then dump it. I now it’s sad to say but I wouldn’t be able to get the picture out of my head on where it was wrecked and it wouldn’t be perfect like it was from factory. But that is just me. Good luck, glad you’re safe, not too hurt, and hopefully you get things worked out. Take care.

A good lawyer will tell you not to be in a rush to settle, as medical stuff sometimes doesn't show up immediately.

Once it's settled, it's really hard to get additional compensation.

Go after the other party's insurance co for diminished value..............  This truck will forever be branded as having been in an accident.

Yep! This is the time to lawyer up and go after the other guys insurance. Pain == $$ Diminished value == $$. And a good lawyer can probably get you $$ for your time and inconvenience (being out of work, etc).

After seeing this, I just went and hugged my Midnight Edition and whispered sweet nothings.

Best of luck with the claim. Very glad you're okay... a few more feet to the left, there's a good chance you wouldn't be posting about it. ?

There is no way I could mentally keep that truck ( or any truck that has had paint work) - hopefully your insurance can work for you to help against the other drivers insurance.

when everything is said and done, it is just a truck.  Be grateful you are alive, get it fixed if they don't total it, sell it, move on.  It's just a truck.  You people thinking of your truck as a family member or girlfriend is pathetic.
