2019 Power tailgate stuck

Recommended Posts

2019 Silverado WT has the power tailgate. It’s stuck on one side. The passenger side latch comes undone but the driver side does not. Any ideas on how to get it open? Can’t find anything jammed and the tailgate is on properly. Not sure how I’m going to get it open.

There is a procedure to remove the tailgate cover so to speak, assuming you can get to it from the bed and access not locked by a tonneau cover, to manually open the tailgate.  I asked that question to the dealer when I first got the truck.  So, it can be manually opened if accessible.  Would be nice to know the procedure.  Take it to the dealer if need be.

the 3 ft actuating rods, there are 2, one for left side, one for right. The rod simply unclipped itself from red clip assembly.  Once you remove tailgate cover, 7 or 8 star head screws or torx screws, you will see this assembly.  if you want to lower stuck gate, simply with your 2 hands tug on rods(pull inward) and the gate will come down. When gate is flat, much easir to work on. Use your remote when gate is down to actuate gate locks, this will givd you a understanding of how it works.
