It's been a long time since I posted here but thought it was time to check in. I remember when I first got my truck and reading all the issues I said oh boy what did I get myself into, you know the Chevy shake thing and catch cans etc. Well my truck has gone over 100,000 miles and honestly it's hands down the BEST vehicle I've ever owned period! It gets great mileage, has plenty of power and still drives like a new truck. I am more than happy with it !

Good stuff! Thanks for posting. People need to keep in mind that forums are places people usually seek out to find answers to problems which would make it seem like these trucks are garbage when browsing GM-T.com. Same goes with any other vehicle forum.

I've said all along that a 100,000 mile Chevy still drives like a new truck.

I can't say that for a ford or dodge

They don't .

BTW my 2011 had 215,000 on it when I traded in and with new tires on it it still ride just fine

Very awesome! It's always great to see the positive experiences with these trucks.
My 14' is getting very close to 100k, got it used and I drove it 4+ years without any issues. I just had my first with the radiator/water pump but after that fix it drives the same as it always has, I still get the same great MPG and smooth/quiet ride. Still my favorite vehicle to drive. ?

135,625 miles on my 2015 and nearly flawless. Damp pinion seal. Warped plastic starter shield. Both under $15 parts.

 

Still running the original brakes with allot of pad left. Just changed the original tires at 125K. One set of wipers at 75K. Some mods, yea. Lots of PM's, fluids, wires & plugs.  Averaged 28 mpg this year for all miles driven since Jan 1 which is 26.3K. Looks new inside and out. Under the hood and under the body. LUV this truck.

Still looks damn sharp, Grump. I ask a lot of my 2015. I live rural, drive ten plus miles of gravel road (each way) everytime I leave the house. Drive across the prairie, chase cattle.  It gets driven... 86,000 now. Runs and rides like a dream. Hands down the best truck I’ve owned and I *loved* my 2005. It went 215K, I felt like I abandoned an old friend when I drove this one off the lot and left it sitting there.The L86 has made me happy at every turn.

The true definition of a work truck I'd say. Impossible to keep one like this in that service. Yes, strange isn't it how we develop a relationship with 'iron'. It's hard to let go of a keeper. Keeps ya going back to the well, right? I'm sure your 15 will do as well as the 05.

I should be doing better than I am and as time passes I see things I could have done, should have done and would have done had I known then what I know now. That, and physical ability is starting to slip. Out of position work kills me, like fixing chips down low. Pulling front liners to remove leaves ?. 

 

But yea, babied to death. No salt, snow and darn little driving in the rain. No dirt, no gravel, no kidding. 98% highway miles. Waxed several times a year. Washed when it gets dirty. I drive like it has no brakes and I'm hauling Nitro :crackup:

 

Nit-pick the PM's to distraction. My much younger mechanic texted just yesterday asking where I've been. He's missing his weekly check this and fix that pocket money. :lol:

Me too. The maintenance is unbelievably low. Doesn't peel like fake chrome or chip like paint. Gets some rock divots that are cosmetically invisible. Really tough material. Cleans easy. Dressing keeps it from dulling. One of those things I would do different is I would have applied PPF to that bumper. Gets replaced and filmed this spring. And protective lens films for the lights.

I have a 2017 that is very close to 100K miles; 4x4 dbl cab, 5.3, 6 spd. My sentiments are similar to yours. It has been the best vehicle I've ever owned & it still drives like new as well. Only have done fluid & filter changes so far. There was one minor recall a while back & the dealer had to re-flash the DIC once, but other than that, it's been a great truck.

Especially true for extremely high volume vehicles too. If you figure there's 1 complaint per X number of vehicles, and of those Y go on a forum and post about it, there are simply going to be more here than on forums for much lower volume vehicles.

so true, if i had found this forum before i bought my truck i probably would have kept my 2006. i am at 126k miles and have had to replace the thermostat, driveshaft and rear diff. my choise on the diff to have posi and to get rid of the wining noise. i also had to replace the signal switch and have had problems with the right side headlight. but i loved the truck from the first day i saw it and still like driving it. it will be with me for a few more years

      Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.

      I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
