Good afternoon.  I am experiencing weird issues with my rear power windows on both drive and passenger side.

both rear windows will roll down, but not up with their own window switch in the back doors.

i can (intermittently) roll them up with the master switch on driver door.  the other day, i couldn't roll the passenger rear up at all.  i ended up opening and closing the rear door, then i could roll the window up.

any ideas on what i should start looking for?

Appreciate any help.  thank you

it may be broken wires in the conduit between the door and the body, most likely the drivers door as that sees the most use. slice the rubber conduit with a razor knife and inspect the wires. you may need to pull on individual wires as sometimes the wire breaks but not the insulation .if the wires broken the insulation will stretch when u give it a tug. all the windows rely on the wiring to the master switch for power. if you find broken wires solder them back together and shrink tube them

thanks for the insight.  i will investigate and report back.  it may be a few days - but I will report my findings

so, i have yet to investigate this.  sorry for the delay.  i just have been taking my chances with the windows rolling up or down.  I am ready to explore this.  I have a question first, might seem dumb, but if I cut the rubber conduit what happens if:

  • I find the wires are fine?
  • How do I reseal the conduit once cut?

There is another post from the past couple days that has a utube video of repairing the switches. You might want to try that first

sorry for the no reply.  yes - i did solve this problem this past summer.   I did have a broken wire in the wire harness that runs thru the driver door.  if i remember the wire was green.  that didn't fix my problem, however.  I ended up replacing ALL window switches in all 4 doors.  problem has since been gone.

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.

You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
