Passed.

2023 HC 6.2 56,600 miles.

Then I turned around and talked about trading in for a 26 3500.

They only wanted to give me 42K. Sad. 79,000 sticker new.

They can FO

Salesman called me back this morning.  Said he worked a couple scenarios on my trade.

I told him the only way I'd do the deal is if he got my payments less than I'm paying now. I don't care how much they give me just lower my payments.

I'm still going to lose money but not as much as the other day. My payment would only be $80 less. But I'm in a new 26 3500 LTZ 6.6 gasser.

It's tempting now.

I told him I'd stop by Monday.

Sell the AT4 and get a Raptor.

Were you already tired of the AT4, or jumping ship because of the potential engine problems?

Any news?

It's been a busy week. After I talked with the dealership last Saturday about my failed 6.2, they didn't know what was next and suggested I call GM customer service (This even though it was failure #3 at this dealership- WTF?). GM service wanted to be helpful, but nobody anywhere seemed at liberty to say I was going to get something to drive. GM Service lady called me back within the hour and told me she was going to be with me the whole way through, gave me a case # and would follow up with dealership on what they still needed to submit, and call me 1st thing on Tuesday to check in (Monday off). I called dealership 2x on Monday and got a reply late in the day. I could have a SUV now or wait until Tuesday for a Silverado. GM Service called me 1st thing Tuesday and continues to follow up with me. Tuesday night I picked up a near zero mile Silverado RST. It's OK, but has the little V8 (gutless), is a short box, and is not up to the trim level of the truck it's replacing. It's OK; but I'll be happy when I get my regular truck back. I was asked to keep it under 50 miles/day average (no problem for me this month). I hauled my dirt bike to the woods on Saturday and can't close the gate. I will post updates as things unfold.

TLDR: They gave me a long-term loaner Silverado. It's not anywhere near as nice or functional as mine, but it's something. It took three days to get there.

I had a Sierra Denali w/6.2L from 2016-2021.  Had XM antenna roof leak and clunky 8-speed transmission.  Got a great price for it, so upgraded to the '21 AT4 w/6.2L.   Separate from recall, no complaints.  First time I ever had essentially the same vehicle back-to-back.  Just ready for something different after nearly 10 years in a GMC truck.   Thinking I am ready for new problems elsewhere.

Nice!  What will you be towing with it?

A 25' travel trailer and a 14' utility cargo trailer.

Someday soon a bigger TT.

I like to bring a gun to a knife fight .

Dealer called me this afternoon. Truck is done! Truck was in the dealer's hands for 18 days. I had a loaner for 15 of them. Engine replacement comes with a new radiator and single use fasteners/seals. A little over $9000 US in parts/labor, plus the cost of the loaner pushes the total to GM nearer $10,000. I'll report back if I have any issues, but it seems OK for now.

What do they give you for a warranty?

I have a '21 Sierra AT4 w/6.2L.  At approx. 55k miles and 5k past previous oil change, low oil light came on.  Took 2 quarts of oil for any to show on dipstick.  After next oil change, low oil light came on after 3,300 miles.  Had it in shop cuz squirrel ate some essential wires.  Complained about low oil issue.  They offered to 'open recall' and perform pico-scope test for L87 propulsion issue.  Test passed.  They changed oil and filter, used 0w40.

Should I expect this to clear the open L87 engine loss of propulsion recall?  If it doesn't clear off my GM account, I'll check with dealer early next week.

They also completed a recall for ECM software update.  Wasn't aware of that recall.

L87 recall now shows complete at myGMC.  Liberation didn't make next steps clear whether to keep or part ways.

If you like your truck and it should be paid for or close to it. You could check with the dealer about extended warranty options. I take it the dealer claims you’re within normal parameters. You don’t appear to drive many miles so a new one with extended warranty should cover you a long time if you choose that option. You may be doing that already with this truck. In that case keep on rocking. Or roll the dice. You could even lease with your mileage per year. The young me would have already traded it in. The old me would roll the dice and keep on trucking. I would try restore and protect from Valvoline. And turned off the active fuel system.

Truck has 60k miles in 4.5 years.  Bit lucky that when I bought it the AFM chip wasn't available, so truck does not have cylinder deactivation.

I almost never buy extended warranty as they only exist for the retailer to make money.  I've never bought one for a vehicle.  Maybe I should or I should stop complaining.  Call me a purist who thinks that after making cars for 120 years, they should make them reliable.  I worked in medical devices where selling mostly reliable products really wasn't acceptable.

I do generally agree with your points.  I may lease going forward as the older me is more willing to blow the dough.

I just saw an ad for Ram. 0-72 payments. 10 year-100k warranty.
