Hello all! New to the this Forum. 07 Chevy Silverado Crew. ( New Body ). First good snow of the season. I always like to make sure the 4wd is in working order. To no avail! When i switch over to 4 hi, the light on the switch tells me it is working but i checked to see if i have forward roll with the front and i clearly do not. when i switch back and forth i cannot hear the hubs locking in.... Just hoping for some clarity. Thanks!

Your truck does not have locking hubs. The noise ( loud thud) you are listening for is the transfer case to shift into 4wd. I believe there is a fuse or 2 for the transfer case and maybe front actuator. I would think it would set a light or give you an error message also. Best thing is to watch data with scan tool if you can get ahold of one.

Well i thought i would give an update. My next stop is a chevy service center. I was finally able to get an alarm. We had a good snow today and i was able to play around in 4wd and 2wd. Now my message center is telling me i need to service stabilitrack. My tuck is mechanically sound. transfer case is working and hubs are locking automatically. As soon as i feel a slip i feel the power to the front wheels go away and stay away until i stop completely. Once i shut off the truck and turn it back on the alarm goes away until i repeat the process. Very weird.
