I doubt they'd do that- it'd just compete with the Camaro and bastardize the Corvette nameplate.

Not so much concerned with Camaro competition, but diminishing the name & resale with a move like this would irritate their loyal buyers I would think. Hopefully this was a controlled leak to get feedback at the very worst.

I don't think going to the 5.3 will diminish the name plate or even performance by that much. I'm sure all of the suspension and tranny will be the same, just the interior and a few exterior parts will be different, and probably lesser brakes. It will have a lighter engine I'm sure with only 70-80 less HP so it will be no slouch I'm sure. Good for GM for doing something different.
