Talking with a friend recently who owns a 2007 F-150 king ranch (loaded). He had an exhaust leak from a warped manifold or something. They had to remove the engine/trans to make repairs! Talk about poor engineering.

Watched 3+ minute commercial on the wonders of the Eco-Boost. Then at the end the fine print on the incentives were for N/A only!

My next truck will be a Ford, the lawsuit means nothing, like said earlier the lawyers are chasing the ambulance... In the US, you will sue for anything and everything to make a dollar... The ecoboost are probably less widespread then the 5.3 oil burning pigs... I know people running ecoboost's and have nothing but good things to say...

 

Once Ford figures out the CAC problem, their sitting pretty because it's the only main problem people are seeing with these trucks... The rest are no bigger or smaller then what GM owners see and Dodge etc

I know one thing, I'll take a CAC problem and few other things that well can be fixed easily over a piston and ring job, Not a nice feeling your 2 year old truck needs to be torn down because your engine eats oil like it's free

Ask your friend if he has replaced the spark plugs yet.

 

I know one thing, I'll take a CAC problem and few other things that well can be fixed easily over a piston and ring job, Not a nice feeling your 2 year old truck needs to be torn down because your engine eats oil like it's free

FYI. My 2005 F150 5.4L would eat 2 quarts between 5K mile oil changes. The tranny only lasted 66K miles. The sunroof faild in the open position around 5K miles and the complete assembly including the headliner had to be replaced. Nice feeling when it was only about 2 months old and your driving home from work praying the rain hold out till you can get there. Also on two seperate ocassions, I had 2 failed fuel injectors and had to get towed to the dealer for repair. Luckly the engine did not hydrolock from either event.

Im sure some pissed off Ford or Dodge fans are going to switch to GM, and vice-versa. I will let you in on a little secret.......... They all make lemons/oil burners. Shhh don't tell anybody.....

I'm pretty sure Ford's and Dodge's burn less oil then the 5.3... Because I've never personally seen a Hemi, 5.4, 5.0 etc... burn oil and on such a widespread basis like the 5.3 does... With the only fix being an engine job...

 

Engine job on a vehicle these days is a big thing in my eyes anyway, Mine needs an engine job, But I'm not going to pay thousands of dollars to the dealer to fix their mistake

 

An intercooler is nothing to change, most of these guys are fixing their trucks with this new revised cooler, pcm tunes and new gapped plugs... I'll take that anyday before opening my engine

And then the warranty is toast. Ford has TSBs about warranty loss over a simple exhaust on the EB motors, never mind aftermarket tunes, plugs and a new I/C. And I'd still say the other two can't touch GM V8s for longevity- I know a lot of people (not just my e-friends here ) with 200k+ mile GM trucks. Can't say the same for the other guys, especially Ram- you google high mileage Silverado and you'll see stories like the guys here pushing 300,000 miles. You do the same search for Rams and the first hits are guys with like 100k bragging about it.

I always thought removing those two extra cylinders you would reduce the ability to vent heat and thus put more stress on the engine. For big trucks IMHO, V8 is the way to go. Bet it very small block V8, but V8.
