EcoBoost Fail

Looks like the Blue Oval is having problems with the little turbo V-6. So much so, that there is a class action law suit in the works and a few Facebook pages dedicated to the problem.

I honestly don't see how they're having so many problems with it. Plenty of small turbo, intercooled engines with no issues at all out there....

When you "turbo charge" any engine, especially a small aluminum multi valve, you are dramatically shortening the life of the engine.

Which is why I have no idea why anyone would buy one that has "Twin Turbos", but again Ford's way of thinking seems to be the more parts in an engine, and the more complex it is the better it will be.

They had a great idea, just rushed it to market too fast.

No matter how good Ford's testing is, nothing will bring issues to light like putting a couple hundred thousand of these on the road.

From what I've heard from dealer buddies, these turbos are collecting water in between cycles.

 

As far as R&D, I remember some BS info-mercials starring Mike Rowe where an eco-boost truck was pulling a loaded car trailer around Daytona. I think they also had a test engine run for 100K in a lab then stick it in a truck destined for a logging job site in Oregon. They may have wasted R&D $$'s on marketing.....?

 

FWIW, I know 7 folks who have bought Fords this month, all were steered clear of the Eco Boost by the dealer! That tells you it's junk.

I got a friend he swears by Ford, yet every 5 years he buys a new F-350 because its "falling apart". I think after 100,000km a diesel is "just breaking in" I think they got him buffaloed. He just bought another recently after the salesman convinced him his 2008 was junk. It's safe to say I think he wants to make a sale is all that happened there.

 

 

Ford can't even decide on a diesel engine. Cab removal to work on the engine?

Yep. GM is far from perfect but unless something real bad happens in the next couple years I'll be buying another.
