Probably the best decision I have ever made when considering/buying tires. In my opinion they're just as aggressive and probably better looking than any MT tire. They are by far the quietest MT tread style tire I have ever ridden in, and I'll bet they're even quieter once I get my alignment done in a couple days. There's almost no hum at 75 mph on the highway. I can't comment on their offroad capabilities yet, but when I get her on some back roads soon I'll be sure to report back.

 

If you're debating between AT and MT, I HIGHLY suggest you consider these tires. They are a bit more expensive than most of us would want to pay, but with the 45k mile warranty on them and considering ride quality, it's hard to pass up.

Wow that's awesome to hear! I love the look of a mud tire but usually go with terra grapplers because they are very street friendly. I will definitely consider them.

I can vouch for every word he said. The R/T's are phenomenal all around. You keep them spinning and they keep gripping and slinging mud.

These will outperform Terra grapplers any day of the week.

Mine is not the magnaride but I am looking to do a 7" kit if the Mcgaughy kit doesn't ship this week I am probably switching to a FTS kit but I heard the FTS and Mcgaughy lifts are very similar in construction and I was looking for some tips on installing since this is my first time lifting a truck and tearing a front end apart. I am working on it with someone who has lifted a jeep before but never a truck.

I have the McGaughy's kit set at 8" and get a light vibration when in 4wheel hi. Contact McGaughys about it and sent in pictures and they said everything looks perfect and that some trucks just need a driveshaft and they will not cover the cost. Not exactly the best service I've dealt with. Since it's summer, I'll worry about it in the fall. I'd go a different route than Mcgaughys though. The chrome inserts have started rusting after just 6 months as well. Another thing that they will not cover. Not really sure what their warranty does cover.....

I got a 3 inch lift on my 2014 sierra its one of those ready lift kits i believe so technically a slightly bigger leveling kit including a slightly bigger block in the rear and put the Fuel tires 33x12.5x20 and have a bit of a rub on the upper control arm on full turn and want to know what offset i can get on rims to eliminate the problem and not going crazy on the offset.

Just got my lift installed! Here on some pictures!

 

6" BDS with MT 17" Rims wrapped in 35' x 12.5" BF Goodrich K02. No rubbing, rides great!

Why spend the money on the pricey lifts when you can just buy a Zone Lift (sister company of BDS) for a fraction of the price? All the reviews I've seen on here speak very highly of this lift. Anybody know the big differences between one vs. the other? My truck has the steel control arms, not the aluminum. I really want to lift the truck, but why so much variance in kit pricing? I'd imagine there can't be too many ways to lift a truck, so the parts/materials in each kit are likely very similar right?

I have a 2014 GMC Sierra all terrain with 5inch rcx lift kit , 20x10 rockstar rims with -24 offset and 305/55/20 copper zeon ltz tires , amp power step , bushwaker pocket style fended flares , boral exhaust with metal mulisha 4 inch tip ... Looking to put 1.25 rough country or 1.5 zone body lift to fit 35's

I'm having a hard time deciding which lift to go with. I will be installing the exact same size tires as yours and rims with the same measurements as well. I am torn between the RCX 5", the skyjacker 4" and the RCX 4.75" combo lift. Would you mind posting measurements to your wheel wells or maybe any pictures you have next to stock vehicles? Also, any feedback you can give on the lift would be very much appreciated!

I just got my BDS with fox coilover and rear leafsprings. Before I bought I talked to BDS a lot. Basically the spindles are the only part that the zone and BDS share. They each have their own different crossmember designs. BDS uses replacement struts in front but reuses the oe coil springs. BDS also offers full leaf spring option in rear and Fox shocks/coilover option. ZONE crossmember is straight across and BSDS is arched to follow factory frame. Zone uses spacers on the factory struts and blocks and/or add a leafs in back

BDS also uses a block system to lift the rear unless you choose the rear spring replacements.

Are there any 5in+ lifts that dont require cutting?

None that I've found (I've been looking at lifts for weeks trying to make my decision). A popular option is to go with the rough country 4.75" combo lift. You have to cut a small notch in the crossmember to compensate for the differential drop and then a little tab above the spare tire (for the body lift) but that's about it.

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?   
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
