What one option is missing from the new generation trucks?

The option that GM missed is:

HID headlights / LED taillights

There is no reason not to offer them as an option on the higher trim levels.

The tow ratings are ALL out to lunch towing anymore than 8k with a half ton is just scary anyways.

Anybody with half a brain wouldn't buy a half ton if they had the intention of towing more than 8k frequently. My dad killed a 2011 ford half ton in 2 years towing 8800. They could all have 500hp, they are still 1/2 tonnes...

FWIW Ego-boost doesn't get any better mileage than the 5.0 and isn't as reliable. Either truck is still slow in real world street conditions. Any truck is. Everybody is so worried about HP, if ur that worried buy a leftover 12/13, save 8 grand put it towards a blower/tranny.Done deal.

If you wanna be the king of the half ton world in the speed depo....buy a 6.2 with 3:73s and get a tune. They will eat up just about any other pickup.

Except mine :)

I would agree LT and above specially with Z71 that should be a standard

How people here actually need to ever tow over 10,000? Or need to a 420 hp engine?

It amazes me how many people continue to bitch about this. They continue to split hairs and compare this Ford, with this chevy, etc, etc. Half will rarely ever tow, and when they do I guarantee you 98% are towing well under the max limits.

exactly my thought, I don't understand why most of these guys aren't getting the 4.3, when most on here are using their truck for grocery getters.

your right torque is what gets you there, and eco still has the most. Again reliability against a 5.0, do you have data to support this like a study?

I think your wrong on half ton only good for 8k and less, they are 1000 heavier then they used to be 10 years ago, they have bigger brakes, CL V hitches, bigger axles, bigger suspension, then they used to. They really are bout the same truck as 3/4ton used to be in the early 2000s.

My dad is good buddies with a fella (his neighbour) that owns 3 ford dealers in Alberta. He has purchased 5 fords the last 5 years, he just picked up a new single cab long box 5.0. Originally wanted ego-boost, but his buddy flat out told him do NOT buy the Eco boost, stay away...says he's seen completely destroyed engines, blown turbos, dropped valves aallll kinds of issues.

So if the owner of 3 big ford dealers (North Star ford) is telling you to stay away. Probly a good idea.

I'd like the option for a solid rear bumper!!!

I can't stand the new bumpers with the Avalanche cubby holes in them.

I've asked the dealer if I could get a solid bumper and they keep trying to tell me how useful they are.

Bedstep problem solved with a hitch in the receiver. The steps on the corner do not make sense to me

I do agree gm's options for trucks is prehistoric compared to other brands.

what I do like about this model is you can get the non Z-71 and it still looks aggressive, before the Z85 or whatever with the cheap rims and tires looked like garbage. Now if you get the all star package or something else the Z-71 is really a waste of money for just the rancho shocks and skid plates.

GM beyond the WT should offer a model between the WT and LT. Have an off road model, LTZ and then another one that is on top of that with everything and anything on it. Just the packaging set up is terrible.

Personally I wish they would just go back to how it used to be where you could order item by item. But I understand that's not cost effective in manufacturing and they make more money by making you buy things you want with things you don't want.

it's the key fob itself that is the real problem.. it bangs on the steering column when off road.

My solution, glue a piece of a mouse pad to the offending area.

Beetle,

I actually thought about that. May do it. Also ... for the keys.. you can simply put those little colored rubber things over them. That will keep the keys quiet.

What about changing out the key and fob combo for a switchblade key/fob setup? What would costs be? I'd actually rather have it all in one, than two separate items, but not willing for fork out $100s for it.

I thought about that too since my wife has it on her Equinox. Then I got to thinking the way the keys go into the trucks the shift lever would hit it I believe.
