What one option is missing from the new generation trucks?

Bedstep problem solved with a hitch in the receiver. The steps on the corner do not make sense to me

 

But you can't use the hitch step if the tailgate is down or if you have a trailer hooked up (you can use the bumper step with both of those). That's one thing I hate about the Ford step.

It can be used if a trailer is in. I use the ball as a step

Pretty much everyone that's seen my truck comments about how much they like the idea of having the steps in the bumper. Just sayin..

I always step on the corner of my bumper to get into the bed of my truck, so I see no problem with the steps.

Until GM has a truck that can compete with the Raptor don't expect much. They tried with a GMT900 prototype and it did not work. Never made it to production.

 

You mean the ZR2? That was never a Raptor fighter. It was a Silverado with an off the shelf lift kit from BDS (I think) and some engine mods.

Options that should be available, HID headlights, LED taillights, power deployable side steps, larger fuel tank, console shifter. they wouldnt all be for everyone but there's alot of people out there that want them and ford and dodge have them..

Raptors are the stupidest thing to ever be produced, you would have to be a complete idiot to waste your money on something like that. $60k piece of marketing junk.

 

I could go buy a left over 12' or 13' RCSB for 25, do a FULL pre-runner kit for $10k, spend another 10 on the engine/tranny and I would still have another 15 grand to play with and It would eat up that Craptor aaaaallllll day long for way less money.

difference is you dont get the warranty. And you start throwing parts here and there, its never the same as factory. Not making a case for the raptor, as I think its a stupid buy as well.

 

Guys say the same thing about the Camaros and the ZL1. "55 grand Ill just get an SS for 35 and slap a blower on for 8 grand." Slapping stuff on is not as easy or smart as some think. Also resale value/trade value is much greater on factory items vs after market items.

True True. Depends what you are out there for. A vehicle these days is a huge capital expense, so I think looking at initial cost, resale value, maint cost, and operational cost are a wise thing to do your homework on, not just how fast it goes, or how tall it stands, but to look at what does this truck actually do for me, and what is the cost? In general adding big tires, shocks, etc, big engines really serves no purpose beyond personal preference, and some guys just like it, heck I have a twin BBC boat that drinks fuel, serves no purpose but I like it. I would not be a buyer into any platform thats true off road like a raptor, but the history of ruining tires, killing susensions etc, I would opt for the warranty. Also you take that 25k truck add 20k, you still have a 25k truck come re sale or trade, the right buyer might see some value in it, most wont care. But to each his own.

 

GM doing the raptor idea is stupid same with the sport truck that rears its head every so many years. But GM would be smart to offer more packages as we spoke earlier, and one of those being an off road package, maybe not quite to the tune of a raptor, but more of hybrid, and maybe a start for guys that want to add on.
