Maybe Toyota will bring a Hilux diesel based vehicle here so GM will have to put in a diesel too.

Hopefully the pricing is right on these.

if it gets better mileage than a full size, and can do the majority of the same things, while still being either luxurious or rugged, it will appeal to people who cannot afford a full size truck

I guess that was part of my point, a friend of mine, a year or so ago, was looking for a Colorado for his mother, the cost for them was right up there with my Silverado.

If they can get the cost significantly lower than the fullsize, then yes I see a market, if not, I don't see them selling very many in the US.

And they still need a stripped down, base model at or near the $10k price point

The truck is almost 90% the size of a full size depending on configuration. Take a look at the dimensions of the global model and it should give you a good idea of its size. Gm is redoing the truck to make its "style" more North American but realistically other then some body panels and some drive train changes at it's core it will be the same truck as the global model. To me it's a perfect size. The reason the mid size market was dying is not because there is no market for it, it is because the manufacturers let the category rot. That 90% size is perfect for my garage and with the new technologies built into it with a 10-15% better gas milage then a full size I just seems win win win to me.

I hope they bring the diesels over in these trucks, we had 4 door rangers.. with 5spd's and diesels instead of the hilux's and i would buy one in a heart beat if they offered it... hopefully we'll have the option of a manual tranny with this... im sick of trucks only having an option of an automatic.. its a shame, gas or diesel.

Good analysis on the new Colorado, Zane. I would add that for many, "afford" is not the issue. Some of us are serious about reducing gas and oil consumption. Through gentle acceleration, minimum idling, lots of coasting (like not racing to red lights, etc) I get a few more MPG than EPA rating with my '05 Silverado 5.3L. Yes, I could drive a smaller truck, but need the load and tow capability. Besides, I really like my truck.

If this new Colorado has a decent load and tow rating, and a nice increase in MPG, they will have a winner! I fully expect one of the new high performance small cube engines, however, and perhaps a 5 or 6 speed. And I would also hope they will have a base model for fleets and work trucks.

Maybe the 2.0 diesel in the cruze would be an option. A few tweaks and some more boost, maybe 350-400 tq,unrealistic, with 250-ish HP. I think they could pull it off easy while getting into the low thirties with highway mileage and possibly mid 20's city. Though that is only an guesstimate lol.

I used to eek out 23mpg hwy in my truck (hand calculated, not DIC) in my 2008 with the 5.3. But then I leveled it and added 33's. Best hwy mpg I've seen since is like 19 lol. Trips to and from work gave me 15mpg avg. So my remedy to that was to take the metro to and from work and save a ton on gas.

If the new Colorado comes with a turbo Diesel engine and can get the same (EPA)mpg as the jeep grand cherokee, then it would be worth looking into IMO.

I seriously hope GM redesigned that stupid asinine brake rotor/hub interface .....

OMG are you talking about how the stupid rotor bolts to the hub therefore you must induce sweat blood and damn rampage upon the rotors to get the rust welded hub off the CV axle only to rip both ABS sensors apart having to also replace those??!!?? Then yes, please do away with that crap design!

I take it they changed it ....

    • I am new to this… but I saw some of your replies to another person doing the same as me… trying to replace the temp control actuator in my 05 GMC SIERRA, And can NOT get to it… how do I get the center console panels off, do I have to take ALL of them off to get to it? 80481681120__F97CE005-C5E5-4FBF-9589-1388214E3586.MOV
    • I will be one of those "blinded". One, I like new shiny things. Two, I've never kept any of them beyond the 3/36. Three, I don't finance anything. Four, yep, it's a waste of money....so,what? I'm doing my part of keeping automotive industry going and keeping my neighbors, most of whom are in it, employed. 😉      By the way this is the "signature... ¬
    • Although there is a "recommended" weight by those who sell trailers, my experience has been that they are way too aggressive in their information, for me at least. My '22 with 6.6 Gas, has a payload of about 3400 lbs and depending on your specs (I don't have 4WD so it has a bit higher Payload than others) yours will likely be different. Payload is one of the most important numbers for towing. Although you "could" tow the max trailer weight for your truck, I, personally, would not go close to that number. Having said that, a lot depends on how/where you will be towing. I live in the LMD of BC and often tow to Denver, Co, along interstates (flat and mountains) and I find I need to keep it in 5th (6spd) for the trip and travel at around 65mph. This is for a trailer dry weight of just under 3500lbs. If you are only doing local, short trips, it would not be that big an issue if you had a heavier unit. You will be surprised how much stuff you load the trailer with, so I would only recognize the trailers "full" GVWR weight rating, then decide on the appropriate trailer from that number. If you are worrying about how much stuff you should be putting in a trailer, you might have too large a rig from the get-go. Once again, depending on what terrain/distance in which you will be pulling. Marv
    • davester, Thanks for the response, how ever, I think I am now a bit more confused than I was before I posted - - After I posted, I actually found a YT video of a guy who replaced his Module (above tire) and he only disconnected the ground cable of the battery, but you describe rubbing the two cables together after disconnecting. I presume that is to do as you describe and eliminate any residual energy? - When I picked up the Module (between my posting and reading your response) from the dealer, I specifically asked about any re-programming and he stated it was not necessary as it was simply plug and play. Don't know how knowledgeable he is, though. - The video I watched also showed the Module plug to be difficult to "unlock" and remove, but there was no mention of silicone, although the video did show a bunch of dust/dirt in and around the plug (old truck) during removal. Are you talking about silicone that was applied by the factory, or silicone that you applied prior to plugging in? Thanks again, Marv
