Yep, I noticed the title of the thread.

Transmissions Issues/Problems

Nope, no mention of any sort of "list anything that annoys you about the truck you signed the papers to purchase or the dealer that sold it to you". That's including a ridiculous claim that 500 lbs makes the rear sag 4 inches. Most of the post was incoherent rambling.

2014 / 2015 / 2016 Silverado & Sierra Issues, Troubleshooting, & Recalls/Service Bulletins

No mention of complaints in the subforum title either, btw. The whole idea of this section is to help troubleshoot problems, share maintenance/service tips, and generally offer advice. Simply registering to complain/whine isn't helping the guys that are here to seek help. To me, it seems completely counter-productive for both the guy that makes the post and the guys that are here searching for legitimate assistance. This section of GM-trucks could be a genuinely useful section for those that need help but it's constantly clogged by guys that just registered to make a rambling, whiny complaint, never to return again. Pure idiocy.

You must want a "safe space" created for complaints...

Yup, I bought my 2015 Silverado in february and people ask me every week how I like my brand new truck..so I am honest with them and let them know I really hate it.

As described above mine when travelling 50kph and I slow down to turn a corner and god forbid its an uphill road the thing dogs down like its running out of gas until i stop the pedal to the floor ....then BAM its down to 2nd, up to redline and tires squealing like a 17 year old. Tried to merge onto the highway the other day, same story, have an opening in traffic and accelerate as you would in a NORMAL vehicle and ....nothin...here comes the highway traffic and again, foot has to hit the floor to get it to do anything. Without question the worst truck to choose if you work for a living. Mine in a WT edition...I needed it for WORK...so I put on a canopy, 2 ladders and a wooden shelf in the back and there is was, sagging in the rear about 4" lower than the front. Took it into the dealer and their answer was "oh well its just too much weight for it to be level" WHAT? I have under 500lbs in my work truck and I am getting people flashing me thinking I have high beams on because my truck isn't level. Had to go and have a $700 leaf spring kit just to fix my 4 month old truck.

Then there is the fuel pump vibrating so hard when I open the door that it actually rattles the dash

And of course there is the dieseling...due of course to the truck shifting into 6th gear going 30kph. I was again, working with my work truck, and heading up a VERY steep driveway and it went from 1st to about 5th then it was like I was driving a truck built in 1967 with a 3 speed..dieseling up the hill, wouldn't shift out until you pound the pedal again...of course leading to such a hard shift like a loud CLUNK it knocked my cel phone mount off the dash.

OH, last thursday turning a mild left corner my drivers side rear tire is skipping and chirping because its like its locked in 4wd but it wasn't. Went down and turned the truck around, more chirping..and it hasn't done it again in the last 4 days.

Have had to do 2 emergency stops now and both times when I went to accelerate nope..nothing at all...stalled cold.

Its going into the dealer AGAIN tomorrow which I am certain I will be met with "Well they are just another kind of animal and you have to get used to it"

45 grand and I have a truck that is probably the worst driving vehicle I have ever owned. It currently has 7200kms on it. Pretty sure I paid for a TRUCK, not a gas sipping grocery getter.

Sincerely a very displeased client

I have photos of the rear of my truck sitting just under 4" lower than the front with just under 525 lbs in the back. Have added a leaf and 1.5" lift to remedy it so the "ridiculous claim" actually happened, and I have paid to fix it.

I was hoping someone would have had similar issues, the transmission being the chief gripe and how to solve it without having to buy an aftermarket tuner.

I came looking for legitimate assistance, and certainly have received no feedback about my issues so far.

Not alone in my plight, just was hoping someone would PM me and let me know how they fixed it. Consumer reports has nothing positive to say about the 2015 either.

There is something very obviously wrong if the rear is 4" lower than the front with only 500 lbs in the bed. Your truck would have to have a leveling kit, broken leaf springs, or the weight is cantilevered out behind the truck to get it to sag that much. These trucks are designed to ride level with it's rated payload, hence why they have a 2" rake when empty. I've had 1800 lbs in the bed (only rated for 1600 lbs payload) and the truck sat perfectly level.

Based on the rest of your descriptions, your truck isn't running right if the fuel pump makes the door vibrate when open and stalls while driving. Take it back to the dealer. Most guys say the clunking downshift is fixed by disabling grade braking - plenty of threads on here that explain how to do it. The rear diff is an auto locker - it can lock if you drive agressively around a corner. Judging by your description it sounds like you hammer the throttle enough to get it to lock.

If you don't like the shifting behavior of the stock tune, driving in manual mode with it set to M5 helps. It'll also turn AFM off. It's the only way I could drive my truck until I tuned it.

Idk about 4" because never took the time to measure it, but on both an '07 and '13 ltz they would be down on the overload with a bare sbc engine in back. They would also be in about the same place with 3,000lbs of steel in back. Sat about the same whether it was about 500lbs or way over rated capacity.

I had noticed this slightly, but after having my truck in twice for seat rail issues, I really noticed my loaners shift so much sooner. In my truck, I have to accelerate, then let off gas around 20 mph to get it to smoothly shift into second. Almost like my '82 F100 I had as a kid when the gears went bad. I have noticed more and more the hard "clunk" downshift into second gear from thirds as I decelerate. I am worried now reading that no-one is getting any releif with this issue. My loaners were so much smoother shifting than my truck. Any recent ideas on recourse? I have over 6k miles.

Its funny you mentioned the loaner.

My 2014 Sierra 5.3 3.42, was in the dealership for a few days in two different occasions getting the alternator and starter replaced, so I drove 2 different 2016 Sierra's SLT 4x4 z71 5.3 3.42 and I noticed right away the shifting was much smoother. My truck has the same issue about shifting into 2nd gear and I tried to make the loaner do it and it shifted as it should, no clunk, no odd shifting. I even towed my 2 jet skis to the lake when I had the truck for a weekend and it did great. Other things I noticed, the LED headlights are 1000 way better than the lightbulbs I have on mine and loved the cool (AC) leather seats, specially in 100+ degree weather.

Enjoyed having the loaner for a few days.

I had my 2014 Sierra 5.3 in the shop a few days due to a noise at start up (replaced starter and alternator). Any how, I drove 2 different loaner for a few days, they were a 2016 Sierra SLT 5.3 w/ 3.42 gear ratio. What a difference! they had around 2000 miles on them, I put in like 300-400 miles during the time borrowed. I even towed my 2 jet skis to the lake and was very pleased on the performance and shifting. No issues shifting into second gear, the headlights are LEDs which are far better than my factory bulbs and gotta love those cool (AC) leather seats in 100+ degree weather.

I did notice this though, the loaners were in DEMOSTRATION MODE and it could just be me BUT when I test drove a truck off the lot the day I went in to pick up my truck, it did not have the same performance as the loaner. In other words, I noticed that the loaner was very light on the pedal, I would step on the gas lightly and it would move, the truck off the lot didn't. I wonder if demonstration mode makes a difference? and it was the same exact setup as the loaner. Idk.

That's an interesting thought...improve throttle response in demo mode knowing nobody will pay attention to fuel mileage, once out of demo mode it dials back the throttle response for a more "Eco" mode...I wouldn't be surprised.

Bought my 2016 Silverado High Country in June. Has the 5.3 liter engine with 8 speed Trans. Started have a shutter during deceleration (between 1st and 2nd gears). Brought it to the dealership last Thursday and was told my transmission is messed up. Less than 1500 miles on the truck. They already replaced the torque converter with no improvement. Next is the body valve. Very frustrating that this would happen to a brand new truck that I paid $50,000 for with less than 1500. Totally unacceptable!

So, here is my story and what was done to so called fix it.

2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali 5.3

Multiple times left me sitting still at a stop light when the light turned green. It was like it was in neutral, the RPMs would rev up and then bang into gear.

Get home and go to back into my garage, put the truck in reverse, the truck begins to roll forward. Nothing. RPMs rev up and bang into gear.

Took to dealer and they were able to repeat it. Didn't have the slightest idea what was wrong so they called GM tech support. By the way this was in Dec '15. Of course GM knew of the problem but told the dealer that they do not have a solution as of yet but replace all of these different components and see what happens. The components being the valve body, control module, and can't remember what else. The dealer told me they were basically using my truck as a guinea pig.

When they pulled the tranny out they said the torque converter came out in pieces, so there was problem number one. They were surprised the truck was even capable of being driven. They replaced that and all of the parts that were recommended by GM tech support and on their first test run it did not fix the problem.

They tore back in it again and did something else which I'm not sure what was done the second time other than flushing the valve bodies again thinking that debris was stuck in them from the broken torque converter. Second test run they said it works.

Got it back and the reverse problem was fixed but still shifted funny and inconsistent. Would not pull a steep hill at low speeds. The transmission would shift out too high and you would have to floor it to get it to shift back down to get up the hill.

I ended up putting a Diablosport Trinity T1000 tuner on it and loaded the 87 octane tune. Huge difference. It pulled a hill like it was nothing. Gas mileage went up 2 to 3 mpg. Still slight stutter going from 1st to 2nd if going slow but a WOT it was like a rocket.

Later starting filling up with 91 octane and loaded the Diablotune from the tuner. Even more power in WOT and runs like a dream. Gas mileage still up 1 to 2 mpg over stock. But still rough shifting from 1st to 2nd when having to slowly take off from a stop in instances when turning a corner.

So, far all of the threads on this topic that I have read that repeats "these are tuned for maximum mpg efficiency" I say BS.

We just bought a 2016 Dodge Charger with the Hemi and their 8 speed transmission. If the Ram trucks with the Hemi and 8-speed transmission run as good as that Charger, I'm thinking about trading my truck for one of them.

You should have gotten a new transmission once they found the torque converter in pieces. A disintegrated TC pukes all kinds of metal contamination throughtout the trans fluid. By now they should have just put in a new transmission and flushed the trans cooler lines.

The Ram 8-speed bugs seem to be resolved since 2014. The problem is that the engone and trans is surrounded by a terrible trucks. The coil sprung suspension makes the truck sloppy/cumbersome and don't handle payloads or towing well. The interior falls apart by the 3rd year. The front end ball joints still pop loose from the control arms for no reason. Good luck with the Ram if you go that route. Fiat Chrysler is pitting a ton of cash pn the hood and the lease deals are rock bottom (for a reason).

I've started having some pretty sever clunking going on when on/off the gas around 30-40kph (18-25mph). Its intermittent though so I'm not sure what the dealer can do about it. It will be fine for a week, then it might do this clunk and either get a surge of power or it feels like it just revs up without engaging. The clunk is getting loud enough that makes me look back to see if parts are laying on the ground.

This seems to be different than the 1-2 shift clunk I get when the truck is cold first thing in the morning. My truck has 42,000km (26,000mi) on it.
