Nice truck! I like the white/carbon fiber look! I'd suggest taking that AMG license plate frame off, it belongs to a Mercedes, not a GMC truck lol.

Oh that, yeah well and while not meaning to brag the truck is not my prime mover, those are my 2008 Mercedes SL 550 with AMG pkg. together with my vintage 1988 560SL, and the wife's CLS 550 hence the AMG license plate frame. We also got the white Land Rover LR 3 that can be seen in the background of some of my truck photos. We're co-located in both Texas and Alaska, the Denali and the LR get transported this week up to Anchorage for our use there.post-128133-0-97884000-1392652586_thumb.jpg

Nice truck! How do you like the Retrax?

I truly like the Retrax Pro. Looked at a types and brands and kept coming back to it. I like that it covers the post holes and contours with the bed top side protective molding. Easy to install and use. I also wanted to be able to use the bed without having to lift and take off a fiberglass tonneau plus my wife can equally use it easily.

Shopped around and ended up buying direct from Retrax who made me a great deal ( I suspect close to wholesale delivered), took all of 2 hrs to install.

  • 3M Clear Paint Protection film on full front including Headlamps, Mirrors, A-Pillar posts and Door-edges
where did you get this at? and did u have it installed?

Professional supplied and installed the 3M paint protection. Paid him $800 for the job only after getting earlier bids upward of. $1300 from other shops. Pays to shop around for certain.

That is a beautiful truck!!! You mentioned removing the sierra badging from the tailgate. I assume that there are no body holes for pins. Do you know if that is true for the rest of the body badging? I am considering removing all badging with exception of the grill.

At first glance this is what I got for ya

Rear center brake light needs to be blacked out very badly

Front and rear gmc emblems need to be a different color, black or brushed metal, or carbon fiber.

or removing the rear gmc emblem all together

Just a thought, but carbon fiber on the door pillars between the windows to create a uniform color, I think it might be pleasing to the eyes.

I like the retractable nerf bar idea, would look great.

New wheels and tires, thinking satin black. Or powder coat the stock rims.

Corsa sport dual exhaust, I have it on my 08 Sierra Denali and love it!

Thats all I can think of for now! It looks great by the way!

Oh.... I, in no way, was critisizing man. It just seemed fitting haha. I respect anyone that does well for themselves. I work my ass off too. I like seeing people do well in life.

It was simply a gangsta way of saying.... "This guy played his cards right!"

well you asked

No worries. Guess I should have been a bit more clearer as regard seeking opinions on the mods I've already done and not toward other mod possibilities.

I'm pretty much finished with exception of the power assist running boards/steps but will wait till I find the right set.

no worries, I do think that a darker tinted third brake light would look nice on your carbon roof. But it looks great either way. I try to take my mind off those new Denalis, makes me want one. They look sharp, but I have just 38k miles on my 08 Denali and no payment so I keep telling myself to just be happy. lol! I went to GMC's website and built one up with exact options mine has on it and it was like $60k msrp. Mine stickered for $48k in 08. Its amazing how much they have gone up in just a few years.

Enjoy it!

Waiting on Republic Carriers enclosed transporter to pickup the truck today and haul it to Tacoma WA where it will transfer to a whale back roll-on/roll-off ferry for onward protected transport to Anchorage. All in about 4 weeks transit time.

Last night I completed my engine block heater install by installing a 110 vlt marine grade power socket plug in the front left fog light housing as I didn't want to have its cord hanging out of the hood and dangling about. I think this is a "clean" install that will work out well. While I was at it, also installed the same (plug) on my Land Rover which as well is being shipped to Alaska.

    • This is a really late reply but I just found this thread. They won't sell the hinges. I've gone 7 rounds with them. Their solution is to buy a new cover. I'm about to buy a new cover and it won't be a Bakflip. It also won't be from realtruck.com.
    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
