Ok, so here ya go. A pic of how you could use your uplifter switches. I'll assume the blue highlighted wires do not exist. Also a couple of PDF's of about anything electrical on a 2014 Silverado.

Hey the PDFs won't open. Says invalid URL. But this was our original idea. I don't think the switch makes enough power to flip a relay.

I opened the links on my home computer, work computer and Android phone. I am curious about the pic though. I tried to open it today and it took a long time then only loaded 1/2 the pic.Did you get the whole pic? I deleted it and reloaded it. If you look at the diagram without my additions, you will see that "flipping" a relay is what the circuit is supposed to do.

So as an Upfitter I get this. What you need is the switch panel and 4 of the pinned type I wires to make this work. But I'm concerned that there's no fuses or wiring in the fuse center so weather or not doing all this will even work is to be seen

Just curious if anybody found anything out? I finally got a part number (Never found this thread), and was gonna try it, but now that I see there's been issues, it makes me nervous.

Hey guys, I've been busy, here's what I've done so far:

 

Only the work trucks with a certain RPO code come with the 4 extra relays in the fuse box to run the AUX switches in a plug-and-play fashion. We can't even add the relays ourselves because without that RPO code our trucks dont even have the terminals to plug the relays into. Just useless empty slots in the fuse box. That being said, it's not what I was originally trying to do anyways. I've got an LTZ with a bunch of options already controlled with switches, so replacing all my switches with the AUX switchbank isn't an option or I'd lose my pedal adjust, hill descent control, parking sensors etc.

 

I ordered the switch bank pictured below AND the AUX switch bank everyones been talking about. The AUX ones are back ordered, but when they show up I am going to take the plastic toggle that says AUX1 and AUX2 and put them in place of the Lane departure warning and the exhaust brake buttons below. After that, I have looked up what pins on the circuit board give a LDW and exhaust brake signal. I'm going to solder on there and control my own relays that will turn on my light bar and my backup lights.

 

I just havent done it yet because the AUX switch bank is out of stock apparently and I don't want to take my dash apart multiple times.

 

LDW and Exhaust Brake will become AUX1&2 - then some custom wiring:

I just found out about these today. I've been trying to find a way to wire in a switch that pretty much uses the "old fashioned" method of wiring in accessories. (in my case, factory fog lights that do not go through the bcm, because my truck did not come with them.)

 

I only need a 12v accessory source and momentary NO switch to make mine work. Think these would be viable for that purpose? I was originally looking at the factory fog switch which is apparently 5v, not enough to pull my relay in, and I dont want to confuse my bcm with load changes. Most of this type of stuff in these trucks are low voltage and go through the BCM, which as others have said on this thread, pass through the fuse panel relays, so the power is never coming directly off of the switch, but more of a low voltage signal sent to the bcm as a logic circuit.

 

The lack of the proper RPO code for the upfitter wiring/relays makes sense in hindsight. I kept trying to figure out why my upfitter slots were empty under the hood, as I had assumed that any truck could be "upfitted." Nope.. not the case.

I'm hoping not.

 

I've been sort of doing my own research on a separate but related project, trying to use the stock foglight switch without the bcm being directly involved.

 

I've concluded that it's a standard NO momentary switch, but according to the upfitter manuals it's a 5v switch and my wiring is polling on 12v.. and we're kind of afraid of pulling the 12v into the switch for 2 reasons. Mainly frying the bcm by inadvertently exposing 12v to a system looking for 12, and for frying a 5v switch with a 12v signal.

 

I would assume these switches are much the same. You have 2 harnesses on it, if you pull the panel off and do some continuity testing you'll probably find these are NO MO switches like the foglights. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.) They're probably different in the sense that they have a toggle light on them, it could be however that there's a microprocessor on the board itself doing that flipflop and not the BCM. You'd have to supply the unit with voltage to test if that were the case.

 

Now I imagine these aren't 12v switches either.. which means intercepting part or all of the wires to the switches you want to use would only work for the voltage it's designed for, OR finding some way to convert it.

 

We've covered elsewhere in the thread that without the RPO code for upfitters you're gonna have lots of blank ports in your fuse panel for upfitter fuses and relays, and by blank I mean there's no terminals to connect a fuse or relay to, not just that there is no fuse or relay in them. So if you're gonna do anything "stock" you'd have to about rewire the whole truck. (you'd have to buy a new fuse box with the correct upfitter pinouts, as the fuse panel and the wire harnesses are 2 separate units. Some GM techs even told me the fuse panel itself has hard wired relays in it that cannot be replaced or accessed without cutting.)

 

If anyone else has anything I'd CERTAINLY like to hear what you've found. I can't find a place to put an aftermarket switch in my truck that wouldn't make my eye twitch every time I saw it, these would be perfect for a lot of guys with light bars etc. Heck it'd even be useful for a remote amp kill switch for audio folks. Lots of uses here.

i put this in my truck, and no the 4 aux switches are no momentary. they are an on off switch and are a grounding type. look at the diagram of the switch. there is already a ground in the factory harness so u dont have to add one. i used aux one to provide a ground to the relay of my led light bar

    • This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.  
    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.  
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
    • Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
