1. It's a truck.

2. It's the most powerful factory built truck on the road (at least on paper)

3. The 6.7 Powerstroke was updated for 2015

4. They made some tweaks to the frame and the F-450 P/U's once again ride on 19.5s like their chassis cab cousins.

They only test what is new for the model year. Ram had the first diesel available in a half ton last year, otherwise it would not have even been considered.

So Nissan is going to be showing the new Titan in January at the auto show and releasing at the end of the year. Does this mean they will get truck of the year by default if no other new models come out? Or by adding a new motor or transmission will constitute as being a new model. Hence Dodge winning 2 years in a row 1 with gas and the other with diesel???.... Because it sounds like Chevy will be able to test there new motor/trans package on the 1500 if this is the case. Toyota might have there diesel out by then and Ford can just skew thier numbers. I got the testing I just think it's BS. IMHO they should take all the 1/2 trucks and test them Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan and anybody else who wants to play in the arena and do a legit truck of the year. And then do a 3/4-1 ton test and call it a HD truck of the year. And then do vans seperately. This IMHO would be better than matching up a Van, light duty and HD truck.

I hear you, I just don't like the magazines BS, that's all I'm saying. Also I was thinking the 6.2/8 speed combo would be considered new for the 2015 model because it was available at publication on the standard 1/2 ton but I see it is available on the high country.

Gotcha, assumed you were talking diesel. But will be curious to watch & see if they run the diesel Colorados next year for the Truck of the Year thing.

It has been years since I have bought that magazine. Think last time I got it, spent like $18 for three year subscription. Toward the end, the only

thing I read was the news section about 10-15 pages in.

Motor Trend isn't a truck specialist, other mags do apples v apples shootouts. They, C&D, R&T all do best *NEW* car/truck/whatever.

As for what vehicles get tested, the 6.2/8-speed would be eligible but perhaps GM declined to submit a truck. This is usually why you don't see a certain model.

But back to your first point, I do recall one year where Peterson's 4x4 OTY only had a Silverado, Sierra and an Avalanche (or something like that). Kinda meaningless.

MT does peculiar things. But how pissed is Ford at the moment?

Their new global Mustang beat for car of the year by VW Golf & now their F150 beat by a mid size truck. Wow.

something tells me that Ford is going to be scrambling to Improve the Focus, and they will likely try to Americanize the Global Ranger. (but if they try giving it the same ugly styling as the F150, consider ford pretty much sunk)
