Onstar just called and said everything is good so just log in again to the app and it should work and here it is.

Saw everyone posting about getting OnStar to activate remote start on their app and it got me interested. I went to Amazon and got the remote start kit. I had already ordered the rear tailgate handle and the GM backup camera. Dealer is going to flash the system for that, so might as well kill two birds with one stone.

No remote start available on manual tranny Camaros for obvious reasons......loaded the OnStar app covering all vehicles.....the screen for the Camaro is missing the remote start icon.

Yeah the app is responsive to the capabilities of your vehicle

OnStar reps are largely useless unless you do a bit of yelling I have found out. About 6 months back they decided it was a fine thing to turn on the damn "This vehicle is equipped with OnStar" message every damn time I got in the truck. First they said it could not be turned off (despite it never being on the year and a half before), asked for a supervisor they said it would take 3-4 weeks for them to shut off, called again, got another tier 2 and supervisor, said it would be shut down in 24 hours, a day later still getting the damn annoying message, called again, told him that it borders on harassment and legal action could be taken and 5 minutes later it was turned off.

Something I just thought about. Is everyone paying for OnStar service or just using the free unlock/lock app. My remote start will be delivered tomorrow. I wanted to ask before I called them.

I'm using the free stuff, since it was use while on your trial and You get it free for 5 years

I have the app and as far as I know my app remote start works but the vehicle status no longer works

You have to subscribe to onstar services to use the diagnosis and location features of the app

Ah that sucks. Glad I at least have the app remote. At least if I lock my keys in the truck I'll be good

I've done it twice so far, always nice to have the app, until I have no service one day and it won't unlock lol. Maybe a hidden key on the frame isn't a bad idea like I did with my 02

Hey guys. New here. Just got a 2016 Silverado 5.3L 4x4. I was curious if y'all knew a price to get remote start and have it installed. I'd like to get it an then also take advantage of having onstar update my app. Thanks in advance guys.

Remote start installed. Called into OnStar. Waiting for reply from tier 2 support.

Question; Did you have to uninstall your phone app and reinstall? or does it update itself?

Nope they just say log out then log back in then it will show remote start burrons
