What do you wish your truck had?

Garmin Nav in the infotainment, with lifetime maps via USB.

The nav in my last truck was pretty lacking in terms of finding addresses and routes it would take me. The android auto is a nice addition to the 17 but having to plug it in is a little clunky.

I wish all four windows were auto up as well instead of just drivers. That's lame sauce

I wish the 2014/2015 body style had more color match options.... but I'm sure glad they did it for the 2016+!!!! Great job on GM's part for making more color matched trucks

Auto up windows on all doors not just the drivers door.
Auto closing windows from key fob like the auto open.
Better headlights on the 2500! (They really suck!)
Manual transmission option!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Onstar app able to close all windows.
Mirrors auto tilt in reverse on all trucks. Not just the high end ones.
Power folding mirrors standard with tow mirror option. (These things are MASSIVE and should fold by power whenever you need.)
Better audio upgrade options. (Bose system sucks!) Needs a 12" sub seeing 400 watts!
Rear window powers down into back wall. (That small slider is stupid and useless!)
Ability to turn the stupid auto lights fully off! (Including the auto dimming gauges!!!!!)
Blind spot camera system with second back up camera for 5th wheel/ gooseneck and grill cam for parking.
New gas motor for the HD trucks. (6.0 is a great motor but it's time for an update)
Small diesel motor for the 1500. (4.0L inline 6?)
Mid sized diesel for the HD trucks. (5.2L inline 6?) Keep price under 3K for this option.
Key pad entry system in drivers door handle.
For gods sake put electric fans on the HD trucks already! This is not the 70s people!
Air ride rear suspension option on the HD trucks.
Better leather on the Steering wheel. (To smooth and to thin. Feels cheap and marks to easy.)
Moon roof option! I love sunroofs but honestly the sunshade is closed if the sunroof is not open.
12v power sockets in the bed.
Bed lighting system standard.
Roof rack option would be nice.
The UI for the 8" touch screen is crap. The system has so much potential. And you made it SO basic. Some simple programing and this thing could be epic!
Speech recognition system needs work! (Hire google there $**T works! LOL)
Tone down the chrome on the HD trucks. (You did this on the 1500 do it to the HD trucks now! Color match bumpers should be standard, chrome should be an option!)
Paint to match mirror caps on the tow mirrors.
Fewer packages and the ability to pick individual options like you used to be able to!!!!!!
Pre wired switches for extra lights and accessories.

That's all I got right now. LOL

Has anyone mentioned adaptive cruise control?

I assume you would like that? Not me. Most of that lengthy list that Badmunky posted, I probably only saw a couple of items that really caught my eye as being maybe worthy. If a truck had all that stuff on it he mentioned, I doubt I would even take a second look at it. I really don't like a lot of what is on my 2015 2500 LT, but it can be tolerated when the entire truck is taken into account.

That "take it al"l package way of doing things is my only real gripe with GM. I have to take a laundry list of stuff to get the 1 or 2 items that I really want. Most of the other stuff I either have little use for or don't even use at all.

Yet, they offer little in the way of real functionality. Like offering a bed option that includes lid covered side storage compartments similar to what Dodge offers on their Rams. I realize that would take up a little actual bed space, but then most folks fit what they need between the wheel wells anyway.

Indeed. One thing I really wanted was power fold mirrors (I'm just funny that way) and the only way to get them was to go to LTZ.

Hi guys! I am new.

I have a 2000 GMC K2500hd regular cab long bed. some upgrades that i will like are: air intake system, exhaust headers, engine tune (want better performance and more gas x mile), new grille, new tailgate handler with rear camera, new steering wheel, new rims, double exhaust, telescope/towing power headed mirrors with signal lights, upgrate back lights and third lights with LEF and halo or projector light?, tailgate assist strut, replace bench seats with power bucket seat-headed of course, remote starter. Well there is more but now that's it. I already started with new nerb bars.

Thanks!

I wish my 2014 Z71 LT had...

- Garage door opener

- Memory seats

- Bigger sunglass holder in overhead console (my glasses won't fit in my holder)

- Navigation

Posted

A lot of navigation requests. I have nav in my 15 and I have used it once. Works great though, it even knows where you will encounter construction. I know everywhere i need to go in the neighboring cities though so to me it is wasted money, but i dealer searched my 6.2L and had to take nav and rear slider which i didn't want either but have grown to appreciate the sliding window. I get why people in US's large urban areas would want it though. I wish we had a powder-coated frame option although I have kept up with my 2015 and it still looks new.

    • This is a really late reply but I just found this thread. They won't sell the hinges. I've gone 7 rounds with them. Their solution is to buy a new cover. I'm about to buy a new cover and it won't be a Bakflip. It also won't be from realtruck.com.
    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
