GM has been developing a fuel-cell powered pickup truck for the U.S. military and released the cool teaser image above. The truck is a collaboration between GM and the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC). It is based on the Chevy Colorado and will be shown in October at the fall meeting of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) in Washington, D.C.

GM says the program has something to do with "...consumer-driven automotive technology." We have to stop and pause for a moment. Hydrogen fuel cells for automobiles have thus far been an abject failure and there is no hydrogen fueling network. The general public has shown no interest in hydrogen fuel cells and the EVangelists are fanatically against the idea. Sorry, we had to get that off our chests before continuing.

Regardless of its drivetrain, the truck in the image above looks bad-ass. We can't wait to see more of it in October.
