Clay bar use frequency

Just curious how many people clay bar their truck yearly. I live in upstate ny and wax at least twice a year and have clay bar all my other trucks. This was first winter with my 16 midnite condition and curious about other thoughts or opinions.

I just did a quick and dirty detail today..

I'm by no means a professional and am more or less a hacker when it comes to detailing.

The clay bar (even with ample lubricant) seems to leave a haze on my black truck that will not come out without hand polishing afterwards.

I've tried multiple brands and types of clays to no avail

So -

I simply wash the truck thoroughly and hand polish the worst spots (few and far between, the paint is in excellent condition) and apply sealant.

Oddly enough I clayed her this afternoon. With the blue granite last time around and now silver, it is amazing what comes off after working the clay. Definitely time well spent if you want to have clean paint.

i have never done it myself but i always wanted to. i just bought all the stuff to clay the truck, i did a spot to try it out after washing it, i couldn't bring myself to do the rest of the truck i wasn't comfortable doing it having never done before. my truck could deffiently use it tho, im gonna get it professionally detailed and then just wax it myself the rest of the year.

My neighbor used to tell me I was going to wash the paint off the car.

Well....one day I did.

I suggest you guys clay and polish only as needed. I think it removes some paint, however microscopic.

Clay bar before winter and before summer. And sealant last a lot longer than wax. It applies the same

After I Polish, clay and seal I spray the truck down with p&s bead maker.

Never, most I do spray wax and wipe. Leave stuff like that to the professionals.

Clay bar and wax can easily done by anyone. It's easy. The hard part is buff/polish/paint correction
