2016 GMC Sierra "All-Terrain X" Off-Road Front Bumper?

I have a 2016 GMC Sierra, with the "All-Terrain X" package, and I love it. As a factory package, it's not bad for light off-road use, and I consider it a good starting point. I get a LOT of compliments on the truck from strangers.

 

However, if you know anything about off-road use, you can tell that the fairing on the front bumper is way too low for serious off-road use, since there's very little angle-of-attack for climbing over obstacles or going up steep hills.

A few days ago I was involved in a minor traffic accident. It was not my fault, and fortunately, nobody was hurt. However, my truck is headed to the auto paint and body shop for repairs, and since I will probably need a new bumper, I'm considering putting an after-market off-road front bumper on instead of the "stock" factory bumper.

Has anyone else done this? Any recommendations?

 

My truck has the collision sensors on both the front and the back that beep and let you know when you're about to hit something. It's sometimes annoying, but sometimes useful. I see that Fab Fours makes a replacement bumper that has the front sensors, but does anyone know of any others?

I like the look of this front skid plate. Make sure to have the body shop save that headlight for you and you can sell it for some parts!!!

That would certainly improve the angle of attack, but it doesn't have the front collision sensors. The Fab Fours bumper that I posted will let me keep those sensors.

For the Mazzulla you would actually install the factory front bumper back on, the skid plate replaces the center plastic where the tow hooks are located at.

Check out backwoods bumpers. He can customize a bumper however you want and makes some great stuff. I'm getting one from him hopefully this summer.

Another good one is Iron Bull. I've looked at Just about every possible option for the 14' front end and I like these 2 best. I've based this decision on price, looks (least influential category), and functionality (approach angle, approx weight, etc) by the sounds of your post, it looks like you are looking for a functional bumper like myself. Not just some pretty, cookie cutter, 200 light bar wielding hunk of metal lol

Yes, functionality is very important for me, more than looks. As I mentioned, I would really like to keep the collision sensor functionality that lets you know when you're close to something. It's handy if you want to park with the front of your truck within 1" of a garage wall without touching.

 

So far, Fab Fours is the only manufacturer that has a bumper with sensor cut-outs, although their Vengeance bumper says that sensor functionality, "...will be lost on trucks with less than six inches of lift." I'm not sure why you would need a 6" lift in order to use your sensors, but that's not really the bumper I'm looking at anyway.

iron bull and backwoods can both have sensors added. Just a heads up, I think that backwoods gives the best bang for your bucks I feel his prices are reasonable and I'll mention, I am building my "perfect for me" bumper with him for around $1700 plus shipping where as id have to give up certain features or deal with certain faults if I went with another company which all charge between $1500-$2500 plus shipping (not always tho)
