Off Road Wheels and Tires

Hello all!

 

I have a 2017 1500 Denali full size. It came stock with the 22" wheels and tires. I like more tire and less wheel. I know the 22's are coveted, but I like a bit more of an off road look and if I do take this on mild trails, I am afraid of bashing the rims on rocks, etc. Anyone know of a good set up? I don't want to get into lifting it, etc. This truck is a daily driver that has to get the kids to school, etc and also take our quads and trailer into some mild off road situations. I'll leave my serious off roading for my 4Runner TRD Pro! Any advice?

22's are totally impractical for a truck and purely for show. I'd list your entire setup on here and your local craigslist. Get as much as you can for them (probably looking at $1000 or a little better). You can go and buy whatever you want. Which could be OEM 18's or whatever. I would stick with OEM wheels. Most people complain about the OEM tires anyway so its your chance to get some BFG's or Cooper or something that works off-road, but is still a somewhat practical street tire.

I agree.....I run a level with the OEM 17" wheels- MC MXT 285/70/17. Great off road set up for hunting, fishing, etc....not crazy off roading but just to get around the trails and fields. Rides great on the road too (this is my daily driver as well).

i agree. i had the 22" on my denali yukon but when i got my denali sierra i didnt want the 22' so bought 20" after market wheels.

 

totally agree that 22" do not belong on a truck... i really wish GM would allow with no or little cost to change things on the trucks at the dealerships. i am not a fan of chrome at all so everything about a denali i dont like except the magneride suspension and 6.2 v8. they allowed me to change out my grill for the all terrain grill but nothing else. it would have been nice to have been able to black out the truck at the dealership for a small cost than me having to deal with it after the fact.

I have Fox 2.0 coilovers in the front - they gave me ~1.5" of lift.

 

I think you'd have to ziptie the wheel well liners back if you were stock suspension, as mine are close and I'm looking to ziptie for more clearance when off-roading.

Welcome to this forum! Stock Sierra/Silverado wheels are close to the same overall size with the rims varying from 17" to 22". There are people like you who are looking for oem wheels with smaller rim sizes and there are many more like me looking for wheels like yours! Ask at your parts counter or put out an advertisement for new GM 1500 owners willing to trade. A 285/70/17 or 285/65/18 wlll most likely fit your stock truck. (A 265 width is ample but I'm old!)
