New club member here. I have only made it through 36 pages of this thread so far so forgive me if any of this is redundant.

Bought my new 2019 LT in November 2019, build date is 07/2019 in Fort Wayne. Garage kept, but has been out any many rain storms and through many car washes. Found first evidence of leak about a month ago after a ride through the car wash. I thought the high pressure pushed some through the slider seal and wiped the drops off and went on. Then during the Christmas break was out with daughter and son-in-law and it was raining. Son says water just dripped on us. Inspected and found a lot more water than from the previous car wash. Looking close and pushing up on the headliner, I could see cracks. 16 of them in fact. I was at 32,350 miles so called dealer the next day. They told me to plan on dropping it off because they would have to remove parts to diagnose. While waiting on the appointment, I started researching and found the TSB and this forum. I let the dealer know when I dropped it off about the TSB and they were aware. They called me back that afternoon and told me the truck was ready. I asked what was done and they told me they had replaced the upper guide (which was not true) and applied seam sealant according to TSB and resealed the spoiler. They said do not go through a car wash for 24 hours. I asked about the confidence level that this permanently fixed the issue and was assured as they were aware of the issue and had experience with it.   They were very professional to work with and did a fairly   clean job (no scratches, broken parts, dirty fingerprints, etc).  However, when I took a good light for a close inspection when I returned home I did notice very slight water stains in the corners of the headliner and one arch off the very back. Not noticeable without a bright light.

It rained some yesterday (two days after repair) so I backed the truck out from under the garage and let it sit out all day. No leaks. I’m just concerned about the longevity of this bandaid fix and it blows a hole in this only affecting early builds.

I called service manager to discuss the stains and concerns and he did state replacing the headliner would not be an issue, but he could only do what GM states and could not replace the rear window unless it leaks again. Fingers cross,

Is the new solid glass still holding up to no leaks? Any advice on getting this done?

All good, I’d find a local glass shop and have them do it.

They had it done in a few hours after verifying the window was leaking, they just wanted to make sure that it was indeed the window in case it was something else.

Just tell them you want the solid tinted defrosting glass for your truck, they all fit each other, they can leave the existing motor and related parts just don’t go running the switch and it’ll be fine. The slider has a cable assembly that goes on the motor so all they have to do is slide it off. They have to drop the side seatbelt covers for the wiring for the defroster and the seats for the motor, easy install once that’s done, no need to remove the spoiler.

Thank you! Glass guy came look at mine last week and is ordering the solid glass for mine. Can’t wait to hopefully put this issue to rest!

To comment on the 2500s, I came over to this forum because there is way more information on the leaking windows. I have a 2020 Sierra 2500 and the rear window first started leaking at 20,000 miles. The dealership sealed it but a year later, it has started leaking again. The sealant does not appear to be a long term fix.

2nd time winner of the Leak.  First repair lasted one year

Got you beat. I’m a 4th time window leak waiting on the repurchase to be built. 😂

2020 Chevy 2500 crew cab

Not sure when it started but found water on back seat at 25k miles

headliner stained , insulation wet . Not happy. Was told by dealer could take up to 6 months to get parts to fix

19 GMC Sierra AT4 here.  Had the leak, took it to the dealer and they seem to have done a good job fixing it from a leaking perspective.  My problem now is the noise from what I’m guessing is the spoiler.  In the cold temps it cracks and pops like crazy.  No difference in noise when going over bumps, etc, just temperature fluctuations.  It’s driving me crazy.  Going in to the dealer in March, will have them look, as I’m still under warranty.

Mostly  wondering if anyone else had this happen, and what the fix was.

thanks

My 2020 had the sealant applied a year ago and it has now failed, made a real mess of the headliner.   The dealer said the plastic window frame is cracked this time so we're waiting on a window and headliner.  I am driving around with rags on the top of the back seat when it rains, what a joke, my CJ is more watertight.

    • Yes that's right, it's the upgrade that includes the overload spring and all that stuff.   Someday when I'm empty and going by a scale I'm going to stop in and get some weight readings.   Exactly  you should have the ability to change individual settings, in in Canada so I'm driving with kph but then I'm stuck with kpa when I want psi lol
    • You must have that upgraded gvw package which is only available or at least was in 2025 with the diesel engine for the 3/4 ton and that gave the truck physically the larger 12.0 ring gear rear diff and the 3500 rear spring pack. There is a difference in what the diff housing looks like externally as one tell tale and also your truck should have the upper overload spring pack and the frame pads that the pack goes up against.    The pressure the tpms system kicks the alarm in on a stock setting truck, that is a good question and was just from what I recall but I doubt I made any notes on it as I knew for the rear that it was not at all what I was after regardless either. Being that you have a diesel and if running on stock tires the minimum pressure on an empty truck seems to be around 50 psi from hearing of those that have weighted the front axle but the rear axle is very similar in weight to a gas truck and again a near empty truck on the rear could go down to 35 pounds at minimum. However the weigh scale is the proper way to know for sure as a guide.    As to changing the readings on the dash from metric to the US measuring system, oh yes that is done easily but what I was attempting to explain was that I can't pick and choose items I want to have in US and those I still want in the metric system at the same time as its either all or none. For example lets say you drove into Canada and switched your dash over to metric so your speedometer read in km an hour, well then your reading kilopascals on your tpms readout and your wife looks over and says what the hell is that saying in the tpms screen and you say "darned if I know, I think its Chinese" !
    • This is partly why I decided to have switched over to Amsoil SS as a way of hopefully preventing the buildup of the sludge/carbon on the pistons and clogging of the oil control rings and the carbon that would cause the compression rings to stick in their grooves as well as stay cleaner up top of the heads in the valve train in the first place, an oil that has tested better by third party testing over typical shelf oil and also doing my best to run relatively short OCI. However in saying that I don't think there is any way to easily prove the oil I was using prior allowed for a buildup at the OCI I was doing, nor in the other direction to make claims the Amsoil is keeping everything clean either. There really isn't a window into the engine is there to know anything for certain even if oil samples were taken for example that showed still healthy oil being dropped out of the oil pan other than engine tear downs that extensive and expensive testing of oils does to actually visually see what is really going on inside the engine. I wish there was some easy method of seeing what is going on but I don't happen to be aware of that if there is.
    • My truck is a ¾ ton but my placard also says 80 for the rear tires, I think I might have the upgraded suspension to the 3500 series maybe.   I put my air down to 60 and the light was still on, and there was no way I was putting over 60 psi in the rear empty and not towing because I knew the actual number Toyo gave me and I didn't wanna ruin the center of my tires!   And you actually can change it in the settings from metric or is and it will show kph or mph then when you go into your tire settings it will be either psi or kpa, but it would be nice to just change it directly on the tire psi page
