Why did you buy your GM?

What made you choose your GM over any other manufacturer/model? I'm new to GM and my 18' Silverado 1500 LT DC is my first truck, so I can't exactly say I chose my truck based on a history of GM loyalty.. but I can say that I think the Silverado is one of the best looking trucks out there aesthetically speaking and I've heard the 5.3 is damn near bulletproof. I could have bought an 18' F150 CC with similar miles, but I just felt as though I got more for my money with the Chevy (minus the cab space of course). I got HID's/LED DRL's, bigger infotainment screen, better interior quality/materials and a V8.. which to me in my current point in life more than compensates for less cab space. Very happy with my choice so far!

Price. I’ve had more GMs, had a couple Fords and Dodges. Had Dodge diesels and a couple Power strokes. The early GM bad diesels kept me away from them. I usually traded every two- three years under 200K miles. As far as 1/2 tons from 99 on, didn’t have problems with any brand. My favorite p/u I bought new was my 01 GMC. My favorite new SUV 06 trailblazer ss. I did have two warranty repairs on that one.

I got $3800.00 for being a GM parts supplier discount, and loyalty discount, Costco discount . Plus I loved the 2019 Trail Boss

Because they are not as flashy a F-150 and cost dramatically less to operate/maintain until 200K and GM backs their crap better than Ferd.  Hold it for 200K and find out for yourself?

Fastest truck naturally aspirated. I don't ever speed, nor does it ever rev past 3k, but to know the power is there is what I wanted.

Had the highest payload for a semi-luxury truck in a CC standard bed.

I rented a 5.3 for a month previously. It rode great. The RAM was more comfortable and smoother but I didn't like the numbers on paper (low payload, low power, hemi tick/plugs). The ford felt harsh in the rear end with an empty bed. Ram had poor resell value even after being significantly discounted from dealer. Ford had aluminum which was prone to denting and expensive to repair. GMC > Chevrolet because it looked better, and the interior trim console pieces are metal and not plastic. GMC was more likely to offer the 6.2 where Chevy would not and when it did, it was a huge premium from the dealer.

The price was hard to beat. Did a fly and drive from Idaho to CA.

2018 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Premium Plus, Max Trailering Package

Sticker: $63k, bought for $44k in June 2018.

My only mod is Formula 1 Stratos tint: 70% windshield, 50% on side windows, and 30% on sunroof. Will be putting on Bilstein 5100's soon.

The 6.2 and the $4000 capital one gave me to do so.

Can you please explain the Capital one quote ? I have that card too .

I actually test drove only two different brands of half ton trucks the F150 and Silverado. I usually keep my vehicle for about a decade so I wanted something with little electronics or just enough for my convenience. I wasn't sure I wanted the F150 with the 2.7l Ecoboost for long term so I chose the Silverado 5.3l. I would probably be just fine with the 4.3l for that matter. I got a great deal for having a GM product to trade in as a loyalty brand come back and also there was some big discounts when I purchased my truck late 2017. I could have easily gone to Ford as well but I got a better deal with GM and I like the looks of my Silverado better anyways. Long ago I had a 93 F150 extra cab and 5.0l motor, like that truck and was reliable. Fords are good too but it came down to the deals at the time for me was a no brainer. Love my truck!

Sure! I hadn't used the card in years and had like $20 on earnings. Wife got preggers so I had to get rid of the AMG since 2 sports cars didn't make sense any longer. I also knew I needed to do some remodeling so a truck made a lot of sense. I started looking at 6.2 raptors but they wanted way too much.

Shortly after, early 2016, a $4000 "top off your earnings letter "came in the mail so I decided to go with a Silverado. Since my outgoing Benz had a 6.2 I wanted the truck to have one too.

I haven't seen another letter since. I was really Waiting because we needed a bigger car for the wife. We ended up getting her a pilot.

Guess I'm a loyalty guy. First Chevy was a 57 2 dr. sedan. Had several Camaros and one Vette. First truck was an 85 1/2 ton. Sold in 97 and purchased another 1/2 ton. Sold in 2003 and bought a 3/4 Duramax. After 15 years as a DD, I would trade it in on a 2018 but this time back to the 1/2 ton. It drives very nice compared to the Duramax when it was empty but when towing, that 03 rode sweet.  That stated, I really like my truck, but if I hadn't joined this Forum I'd never have found out everything that's wrong with it.

Lucky me.

I drove the 2 US brands, Furd and Dudge at work for thirty years and came to hate them.  Always had GM's and never had problems like we experienced with our fleet trucks.

I came from a 14 year old Nissan Titan that was a great truck for me.  It had some faults but got me out of a few places I should not have gotten out of.  Bottom line I don't like their new body style and the GMC/Chevy's 14-18 are the best looking body style out there.  They just look great.  Also test drove the F150 and the Sierra and the GMC just rode so much better.  Never once considered a Ram or Tundra.  From there is was finding the right configuration I was looking for ending up with my 17 All Terrain.

I loved my '96 F-150 XLT but it rode like a truck compared with Chevrolet.  Had two 1-ton stake beds at work, both '99s, one Ford, one Chevy.  The cab was bigger in the Ford but the Chevy was far more manueverable and comfortable, smoother ride, and had more low end grunt compared with that high winding 5.4.

Price and looks.

For years I wanted the new F150 body style or a tundra. But after saving up 10k and getting some prices, wasnt happy with $ amounts on either.

Then I noticed my cajun red crew cab Z71 on the lot at the chevy dealer while just driving through the lot with the family, love at first sight :-)

And it met all my requirements.

(V8, 4 door, full console, heated cloth seats, 4WD, remote start. That was all I wanted)

And it was $36,640, which was way cheaper than any other truck that met my requirements above.

I figured my old 2002 Silverado has been a solid truck for all these years, maybe a new one will be too.
