Hey guys, feeling a bit dumb because I searched (old man disease), How can I tell if my towing package includes the electric brake control?

You should be able to see it on the left side of the steering wheel about 1/2 was up the bottom knee panel. If you can't locate it, it doesn't have it.

So under the bottom of the panel? see a connector? So then your saying I'm wired for it but need to buy the control?

Going out to look in the dark LOL Thanks

Well I guess that was a waste of time trying to look up there, doesn't one of the codes in the glove tell me?

Thank You

2012 extended cab 1500

The Integrated Trailer Brake Controller is RPO JL1 and if you have it, it will be on your left knee bolster, below the light switch.  If you do not, there is  still a bundle of wires under the dash to hook up an aftermarket controller.  To get the aftermarket one to work, there is a wire under the hood between the fuse box and fender that goes on the left stud to bring it to life.  Now, if you want to send power to the trailer's fridge or lights, there;s another wire wrapped up under the brake booster.  This one goes to the other stud.  With this one, it does not matter if you have JL1 or not.

Don't remember seeing an Extended Cab Long Bed before, nice!

No JL1 :(

Can someone point me to a tutorial on what wires have to go where? And what controller I should buy

Thanks for the compliment on the truck, 2012 I believe was the last year they made the extended cab with the suicide doors, I am the second owner, the truck had nineteen thousand miles on it and I paid $19,000 for it, when I saw it was the long bed with the extended cab and it had the cap already? just wow, then I looked in the back and there were four mounted studded snow tires LOL

Thanks again

That's a fantastic deal, looks like the previous owner took good care of it.
