Question

Posted

I have a very nicely equipped 2017 Chev. Silverado z71 Quad Cab. Only have 6500 miles on it and bought it as a kind of retirement gift for myself. I use it for various things but mostly to go fishin or huntin in and tow my 18 foot Basstracker. The issue I am having is backing my boat back into the garage with it. I live in town on an alley and it is very tight trying to get the proper angle backing into the garage, especially if the neighbor is parked on the other side of the alley. I am wondering how much I might be gaining in maneuverability by trading it in for a smaller truck? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for any help.

Maybe it was a stupid question but was wondering if anyone had some experience with my issue. Thanks

Colorado has a good bit more maneuverability vs. a Silverado.  Think Chevy Equinox vs. Tahoe.  Shorter truck, shorter wheelbase, tighter turning radius, narrower width.

See if you can rent one or test drive one for the best comparison.

Thanks! I was thinking it had a shorter wheel base but wasn't sure it was enough to make much difference. On the other hand, a little difference might make all the difference. I have no big issues when using my Grand Cherokee but think is wheel base is much narrower.

colorado is too small inside, very cramped if your used to the Silverado.

I do like the Colorado but there's no headroom. a 4x4 version with a 6.2 swap would sound exciting though

Keep your Silverado and buy a trailer tug where you can manually drive the boat out of a confined space. much cheaper than loosing resale value

Soo, you are saying I probably wouldn't like the smaller truck and that I should get a smaller vehicle to use to back boat into garage? I can do that with my Jeep Grand Cherokee without to much issue but wasn't really wanting to unhook the trailer and then hitch back up to another vehicle to accomplish that.

probably make your own from a harbor freight dolly, go cart parts and a chevy starter

If I were only that mechanically inclined!

Traded my 2016 Silverado for a 2017 Colorado. Felt like I was driving my Ford Escort from high school again. Went back to a Silverado in less than 60 days.

Wife had a Colorado for a couple of years. Work truck. I'm a big guy, over 6 and over 200. Found it a nice fit. My Silverado is larger in every way. Yes it's bigger. Same could be said moving to a Freightliner from a Silverado. Question isn't how big is it inside. Question is; how big does it need to be for YOU to be comfortable. Do the ergonomics suit you

Go sit in one. Take it for a spin. You have to live with it. If you just take another's opinion on it you get to live with theirs.

Right?

I thought they were interesting when they first came out again. I found around here that the Texas edition full size were cheaper most of the time. I prefer early 2000s trucks now anyway.

I would of bought one if it had a Bench seat , I hate buckets and the center divider... , raise the roofline and make the 5.3 stock motor, they would sell
