So I got a l86 and got the notorious P050d code. This only happens when it’s in dual pulse mode on the cold start.  I’m getting prepared to pull the injectors and get the part number to order. I’ve seen several videos and guides of people installing these so I know basically what to do but have a couple questions on little things. GM does not say to lube or put anything on the seals of the new injectors. I’ve seen where people have and people haven’t. Any advice on this? Also I already have the too high pressure lines. I don’t need to replace the 3rd low pressure line right?  Is this somthing you’d replace anyway. I’m going to do all 8 injectors at once.

6.2 GM suggests you match the old p/n flow as the rails are set up for balance from the factory.  Low, nominal and high.  However, that said, if you can't verify what flow they are, they say to order 8 nominal flow injectors.  Current # for those is 19420316.

"Note: If for some reason the injector has been removed, discarded or have all injectors on the bench and are not sure which one goes where, then the best thing to do is order the “NOM FLOW” injector part number as shown above, in the quantity you need, and install them in the engine. In this case you would order what is shown below.

When fuel rails are assembled at the supplier, the injector installed in the fuel rail can be nominal, low or high flow injectors. This is done to try and get an even balance or flow across the fuel rail for emission requirements. Also, the replacement injector kits will be a different part number than the injectors, and also that a kit may contain one of several different injector part numbers."

Do NOT lubricate the tip seals.  The only thing GM calls to lube with anything is the "socket" on the rail where each injector sits, and to only lightly lubricate with clean engine oil.  There is clear warnings on the rail install and removal instructions to not lubricate the injector tip seals.

Pipes.  You just need the two in the valley.  The pipe from the pump to the "S" center pipe, and the "S" center pipe itself as well.  The third line is only if you are planning to remove or replace the high pressure pump which is not necessary for injector replacement.

Thank you for the finer details. I knew about the nominal flow if they couldn’t be matched but wasn’t gonna do anything until pulling and seeing. The lube was the main question and I seen where people had, but I wanted to know what exactly gm wanted there. I would think the lube would actually attract more carbon than without it over time. This helps a bunch thanks again!

I also suggest cleaning the injector bores very well, I did mine, although they say no lube on the seals, I did put a "Tiny" bit of the 0W20 on them just to barely wet them. I didn't have any issues, just make sure you clean the bores, I used intake cleaner, and a nylon bore brush, then flushed with Brake Cleaner and dry. If for some reason one or more of the Teflon seals are damaged on new injectors (it happened to me) be sure to watch videos on how to install them, very critical!!

    • I get the same results with pictures. Then I figure it out. Then I forget. Screw it.
    • I guess I'm the only one on this forum who can't get effing pics to load here! Do you have to resize them to post, or am I just blocked from uploads?   I have the same luck with automotive electronics ... but this is the ONLY site on the net that I have this problem!   I'd post pics of what I'm working on ... but I CAN'T! 🤬       Just fabbed up the kickdown cable (had to extend the cable mount WAAAY out from the throttle shaft to get a full pull), and parts arrived for the fuel lines on the 940 carb conversion project. Should be able to drive this thing by the end of the day. If not for work, I'd have had this thing done SIX weeks ago.   Got the jetting sorted out last week. Had a real bad tip-in bog that I couldn't seem to correct. Friggin float height was over 11mm too HIGH! eBay purchase, so no wonder everything is screwed up right out of the box! I ended up with a larger dual-squirt accelerator pump jet anyway instead of the single. Also moved the 70 primary idle jet (4 sizes too big out of the box) to the secondary idle circuit, and installed a 57 in the primary. Runs great on the fuel bottle!    Still using the computer for ignition. Going to drive it first and see if I want to go through the project of installing an intermediate shaft with a distributor drive gear, so I can install a block-mounted distributor and run points, 100% computer free. I should do that anyway just from a simplicity / reliability / tunability standpoint. The electronics left me stranded last year a couple times! I can't tweak the timing to my liking right now because of the computer. Tried twisting the cam-driven distributor already ... and the damned thing just reverts back to where it was! That's infuriating. But if it runs well enough I might save that for next season.   Just driving it in and out of the shop to work on other projects, it feels 1,000% more responsive with the carburetor. Also fires MUCH faster when cranking. Can't wait to drive it and see if I got more than 114 ponies, lolol.
    • Triumph makes me think of cars not bikes. Especially with model names like the TR7, that was a Triumph car model too. Peak TR for me was the TR250. You could retain the post-war roadster looks, with an optional surrey hard top, but with an inline 6 engine instead of the TR4's anemic 4-cylinder, but still have a 4 speed, optional overdrive.   I know almost nothing about Triumph bikes, except that they exist. Good looking bikes though.   I don't know if I could just have one vehicle. The Silverado does it all except for fitting anywhere. But it leaves a void in real driving enjoyment, unless driving an extremely large sofa is your thing.   What did I do to my 'other' (muslce car - which one!?) vehicle lately. I took my '23 SS for a drive. It's only got 1600 miles. I keep reminding myself I shouldn't be so precious about this car. It likes to be driven. Needs to be driven. Life is short and if I don't enjoy it, someone else will. The other half calls it "the garage ornament".
    • Hey everyone, Thought we’d share our 40" SLIM Light Bar setup for the 2022+ Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for anyone looking at behind-the-grille lighting options.   The 40" bar sits behind the lower factory grille, so it stays pretty well hidden when it’s off. The mounting position is also adjustable, which helps with getting the bar positioned properly depending on the grille.   A few details on the setup:   40" SLIM LED light bar Fits 2022–2026 Silverado 1500 Spot + flood beam pattern White, amber, or white with amber DRL backglow Adjustable mounting position No cutting or drilling required Doesn't interfere with the active grille shutters Vehicle-specific mounting brackets       It’s a straightforward option for anyone who wants the coverage of a 40" bar but prefers to keep the front of the truck relatively stock-looking. Curious what the Silverado owners here prefer — hidden behind-the-grille lighting or an exposed bumper-mounted setup?
    • Yes. Absolutely. That doesn't mean I don't like and enjoy a variety of machines. I went for a time with no other vehicle than a 1976 Triumph TR7-V Tiger. Loved that bike and rode it 365 in any and all weather. I did not feel deprived of anything.
