first things first, take those god awful pink stripes off the truck lol.

 

i would do heads/cam/long tubes, 4:10 gears, 3000 stall (matching cam), 4l80e swap with shift kit, slicks and a big bottle of nitrous. boom, 12-13 second truck. That would be the cheapest way to have some real fun.

Toss the gen 1 junk in the scrap bin and do a heads cam lq4.. and run circles around any "built" 350 you come across. Easy cheap and simple.

I think they make kits for that. Also they have kits to do a carb'd gen 3 so heads, cam, and carb'd LQ4. Be a mean truck

To go with a carb'd gen 3 all you really need is motor, trans, mounts, ignition controller, and your choice of manifold and carb

And to stay injected you just need a fuel pump and make a harness stand alone... which from a gmt800 isn't hard at all.

Way, way cheaper to use GM's stuff... and probably a better controller than any aftermarket company will ever give you.

Go 383 scat crank and rods. Go at least 10:1. Call comp cams and have them suggest a cam for torque. Vortec heads will be fine.

Some good advice here. Don't forget some weight reduction and traction mods. You need to make your time in the 60' - 100 cause your pushing a big brick after that. A big dose of dope will get you out of the hole quick with a nice TC and traction.
