Hmm i think I may have heard something once. But didnt really think much of it. It's hard to hear whats going on outside of the cab, because the dang thing blocks the outside so well. (not complaining, just saying)

I've got it too. Same scenario as the others. I'm thinking right rear shock, best I can tell. My other theory is something brake related? Perhaps having to do with the e-brake? Almost sounds like something rubs as the wheel goes around?

Got the truck back after a week in the shop with the same old we can not replicate the issue. This is beginning to get frustrating. I have no idea why they can't replicate the issue when it happens every day when I have the vehicle. Since I've had it back the issue is worse. Not sure if I should just drive it until it breaks or to continue to try and get it fixed. All I know is it sure is taking up a lot of time and hassle trying to get this issue resolved.

Hello,

I am sorry to learn that you vehicle issue seems to be worse after a visit at your preferred dealership, Charlieo132. I would like to look into this concern for you. Could you private message me referencing this thread including your contact information, VIN, current mileage, and your preferred dealership?

Has anybody solved the issue with the creaking sound from suspension area? Bad shocks? Is the specific to Z71's Rancho shocks? Definitely more noticeable when truck is cold and lower speeds.

My noise is a rattle under the bed when I close the rear door and that is when I hear it. I think it is the skid plate rattling that protects the gas tank. I plan to take it to the dealer to get it fixed.

I have. '14 z71 crew cab and this is going on with my right now with only 542 miles on the truck .

When slowing down or accelerating, and more specifically turning left, I have a deep rattle sound like if a bowling ball was just rolling around in the bed of the truck. Doesn't matter cold or warm, the sound is random and fairly consistent.

In addition to that, when the truck is at idling, I hear a high pitch rattle/whine coming underneath the front end around where the driver door starts. When I first heard it, I thought it was a belt squeaking, but once I investigated it a little further I found out where it was coming from.

Lastly, the truck will randomly have extremely hard shifts, to where it almost feels like I just hit a huge pothole or even snapped a driveshaft.

I hope we can some resolution to these issues before I go a-wall trying to ignore them.

I have mine back at the dealer again trying to fix the issue. Once they are able to find out what is wrong with mine I'll post it as I know it's the most frustrating thing.

I would guess the shocks... but I bounced up and down in the back of my truck bed like a fool the other day before leaving. Truck was quiet... didn't make the same sounds. I'm thinking body mounts..

for me, randomly jumping on the bumper did not make a noise. However when the truck is acting up if you pull over and jump on the bumper then it would make the noise.

I took mine to the dealer for the same issue...popping or thunking noise under the bed of the truck when its cold or at slower speeds. They did a ECM and BCM recalibration that affected the transmission. They said this was a recall for the 2014 (GMC). After this recalibration, I have heard the noise much less though it is still there occasionally. It leads me to think that it is a transmission issue.

I started having this noise happen around 3,000 miles (5.3, Z71, standard box). It would always occur between 5-15 mph. It was kind of a rattling noise coming from the rear end, sounding something like a bad U-joint or a posi-traction noise like something was loose. After 15mph the sound would go away. I made an appointment with dealership. He stated that no one had been in for servicing with that problem and made that quote all service writers have, "if we can't duplicate it, we can't fix it". My rear end noise went away about 200 miles ago, so I never took it in. Curious what other dealerships are doing to resolve the issue.

yes!! same noise!
