I am a new member here.

My insurance company just totaled my 2007 Chevy Avalanche. I was completely stopped in freeway traffic when I was rear-ended by a lady in an Acura TSX (I think) She hit me hard. I estimate she was going 45 mph, slowing down but was distracted and didn't have time to get out of the way or stop in time. I say 45 because she pushed me into a Honda Odyssey. I was about 2 feet from him, and he was pushed into 3 vehicles ahead of him. So 6 cars total. She had state minimum coverage, $10k for property. Needless to say her insurance company is not paying for anything right away. We were told to file on our own insurance via Under Insured or Non-Insured. While not happy about this, I would rather have the ball rolling on getting back on the road. Her claims guy told me she will likely get sued by all six insurance companies in the end to try and recover what they can. That cheap insurance isn't looking so cheap to her any more. :P

My insurance company was more than fair with me. I am very happy with the settlement, even though I had a new engine in it (6 months and maybe about 10k miles) which they kinda screwed me on, but considering the age and mileage of the Avalanche they gave me "Very Good to Execellent" / "Dealer Ready" condition for pretty much everything.

I am sad that I lost my favorite truck ever, I am moving on.

I just ordered a new 2016 1500 Silverado LTZ 2WD (Crew Cab/Small Box). My dealer found a couple of trucks in the area that were close, but in the end I decided to order from the factory to get exactly what I wanted.

I lose my rental (2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab) Wednesday. (I hate my rental - LOL) This RAM doesn't even have a shifter on the column, It has a KNOB on the dash. Very difficult to get used to.

Luckily my father has offered his 2015 1500 High Country to use while I am waiting for mine.

It is a company vehicle (family corporation) we decided to not go High Country and drop down to LTZ and save the company a little cash. And the loaner High Country to save some cash on driving a rental.

My dealer quoted me 6 to 8 weeks to get it built and delivered.

Needless to say I am going a little stir crazy playing the waiting game. But it has given me time to do some research on a tonneau cover for it. I read all 80 pages on the subject here. Better info than anything else I could find online.

I am excited to be here and more excited to have a new truck. While I loved my Avalanche, after 9 years it was really starting to show it's age.
