Put pressure on the brake pedal in a situation where you know it will clunk.. and I am betting it won't do it lol. I gave up fixing those noises on the 3 HD'S I owned lol. I took the 5100 Bilsteins on my 05 1500HD off... got tired of how stiff they are... like a 2x4 bolted in there. Gave them 10000 miles or more to "settle" and nope... still rock hard. Went back to KYB Monomaxes like I had for about 90000 miles before and my decent ride came back. I had 2 sets of Bilstein 5100's installed on these trucks and both rode like trash.... and the 2015 Tundra I have with factory installed Bilstein 4600's rides like a lumber wagon too. The forums love them though lol.

Mine has 3" keys and the bilstein 5100s made my truck ride fantastic

what year and model truck do you have? Could you post a picture of your cv angle?

2002 2500hd and the CV angle is pretty steep don't have a pic ATM. But it is functional.

You said it clunks when going over bumps. Have you checked your ball joints?

no I would I go about doing it. Wouldn't it make a noise going around a corner

Not necessarily...

There are several videos on Youtube that will show different ways to check for upper and lower ball joints. The key is to jack up the truck and then pry up under the now hanging tire to check for up/down travel. You may need a helper to do the prying while you look underneath and inspect the ball joints. There shouldn't be any travel up or down in the tire compared to the control arms.

I have a 2003 2500hd with 88,000 miles and when every I go over a bump at slow speeds (less the 15mph) I hear a clunk in the front. I have tried the method of moving the steering shaft up and down to redistribute the grease and that didn't work. I looked under the truck and couldn't find anything obvious. I don't think it is steering related because I don't feel it in the wheel I feel it in the floor.

Check your sway bar bushings and end links. My end links are junk and cause the noise on my 02.

This past weekend I changed my calipers pads and rotors because the old ones were seized and didn't work to well. I was able to grip the tire on the top and bottom and wiggle it back and forth. I head a clickin/clunking noise so I think a ball joint has gone bad. I think I am going to replace all 4 ball joints with MOOG ball joints. I read somewhere that the ball joints can oblong the hole in the control arm and cause the new ones to wear out quicker? Is this a real thing? Should I just replace the joints or the hole control arm?

depends on how the ball joint has failed. If the ball joint assembly is wiggling in the control arm, then yes, I'd replace the whole arm. if the ball joint internally is just worn [normally the case], then you can either replace the whole control arm or just the ball joint.

when I did my upper ball joints, I decided I didn't want to bother with fighting to get the old ball joints out and just bought new upper arms [moog arms] which were around twice the cost, but much faster to replace than just the ball joint [unless you happen to get ones that magically haven't rusted into place].
