xMEATxHAMMERx Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Has anyone tried charging a "phablet" sized phone like the iphone 8 plus? GM's website says it won't fit/charge. Curious to know if anyone has tried or has any solutions/trays/mats that would fit. Thanks!S8 plus works...Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

razor2307 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 8 plus will charge on the factory mat after the charger upgrade but you must place it carefully and it can’t move. It Does sit at a slight angle. Helps to not have a case 1

Comes with pigtail harness and new wireless module. Going to install in our 2016 Suburban. Ha Ha, didn't read the entire post or even the last one and I should have. I was just happy to have found what I needed to get the wireless charging to work with my wife's iPhone 8 Well the kit came in today. Got it installed in 10 min and it works with our iPhone 8+ even with the case on. 1
isalas Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 FYI, purchased the retrofit module from OEM Parts World for around $72.00 shipped. It came as described (black LG Model Wireless charger) and also included a retrofit harness to convert my 2017 plug to be compatible with 2018 module. Quick swap and everything works perfectly. Just as an FYI, I had modified my 2017 module (removed the magnet ONLY) and it was working perfectly with my iPhone X, however, I wanted the REAL module and not a quick hack. I now have a 2017 module that will also work to wirelessly charge an iPhone X sitting around. My vehicle is a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali w/ Ultimate Package. Hope this info helps!
b1gted Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Sorry for a stupid question, but I have read back on this thread as far as I can, can someone tell me the difference between the part #13521066 and this new 84526978? Is the only difference is that one comes with the wiring harness adapter? Thanks for the help.

beammmer Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Thank you to everyone on this chain. I ordered the module for my wife's 2017 Tahoe. It was stupid simple to install and IT WORKS. Thanks, again. Don 1
Stevan Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Has anyone done this successful on the 2018 Silverado? I have the WT and it didn't come with wireless charging. Would the 2018 Module (or kit) for other GM cars work on the Silverado?

If you want it to appear and function 100% OEM, with you having a WT, you'll need to install a center console and probably update various things like the HMI, etc and run some wiring so you'll have the charging icon show on the infotainment screen when it's charging. If you are just wanting a wireless charger in your Silverado, you could retrofit various wireless chargers depending on where you're wanting to install it, as once again, you only need power and ground to make it functional.
pgamboa Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 The “kit” won’t work since your console won’t have an existing plug to “plug” it into. I’m working on a concept for those that have a center console but not wireless charging to be able to easily add it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
colonel00 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 (edited) My biggest gripe with my wireless charging (came with my '18 LT that had a center console) is that it isn't a fast charger. It's just plain slow. Not bad for longer trips but in either situation, it's just as easy to plug the phone in. I don't suppose any of the OEM chargers are fast wireless, are they? There are also 2 USB ports and 1 cigarette lighter in the console as well. I don’t know if an OEM solution exists but it seems like I should be able to glue a 3-coil charger part under the plastic that the matt sits on and then plug it into one of the two USB ports? Anyone know the maximum distance between a wireless charging coil and the back of the phone?

If you already have the full center console then you could swap the console lid with wireless charging lid and wire in the OEM wireless charging module using the power and ground from the power outlet, it just won't show you're charging on the infotainment screen and it won't be PnP as Phil (pgamboa) mentioned. If you didn't want to swap lids, yes you can retrofit a wireless charger under the mat and use a USB port for power. The are various videos out there of that modification, just do a quick search on YouTube. Edited September 14, 2018 by BlkSS 1
