I just wanted to share my light mods I did over the weekend. I used many of your for advice and looking at old threads, so thought I would share the results...for reference, I am one of those guys that doesn't have a ton of tools, so when I get knee deep in a project, I usually don't have all the tools, which makes the jobs a little frustrating (I know what I want to do, but can't because of the resources I have) hope that makes sense.

 

having said that, these two projects went pretty well...and an amateur (like me) could do them.

 

First Camper lights:

 

i tapped into the power wire for my dome light, I got the string lights with remote and color changing from Amazon (around $20). I then glued the lights to a velcro hooks strip and let dry...once they were dry, I hung them around the top. *note, that the glue didn't stick for crap, so I ended up having to use little strips of velcro to hold the lights up from sagging.

 

pics are of the remote and relay box, I put velcro on both so they wont move around when driving.

lights wrapped around camper shell (note that the pics look purple, but they are on 'white' setting)...

and the left over light, I kept wrapping around to the back near the hinge...

LIGHT BAR

 

I also got this light bar, wiring harness and switch with wireless remote as a package deal on amazon (under $40). i also got the split wire conduit from lowes to help protect the wires...I believe that it is well worth it and helps maintain the factory look without having a bunch of wires all over your engine compartment.

 

first pic is where i zip tied the wire and fed it down to the light bar

second pic is where i mounted the relay switch...i just used the bottom side of the plastic plug

next pic is just showing how indiscreet the wiring is, how I zip tied it to the other wiring harness

more wiring (it had PLENTY of wire to I had to loop it around a bit

this is a pic of the remote sensor box and the lead to the hard wired switch

and finally the switch...this is where i am 'meh' about it...I wasn't originally going to do the hard switch, but thought after the fact...it isnt the cleanest, nor the best...but it is the easiest and gets the job done...

I hope these pics are as helpful to someone as this forum has been to me...I will be happy to post links of the stuff I bought if anyone was interested and answer any questions...again, I'm not saying my way is the best way, but I am happy with the way it turned out...but I didn't do anything crazy...enjoy!

Thank you! here is the light bar...i would probably take a pic with it off so you can see it better...but it is slightly recessed in the Iron Cross bumper...

You should feed that door wire through one of the door grommets and inside the backside of the dash.

 

Then pull it through the dash, wouldn't have any exposed wiring and would look factory.

 

Light bar looks really good though

this particular switch doesn't have enough wire for that...it is pretty much maxed out...funny, because the wiring harness has more than enough wire for my needs...ironic I think...

You should get a picture at night with all of the lights lit up together.

 

High beams with the fogs on diode mod too. I imagine you'd light up the damn neighborhood.

they are pretty bright! here is a pic...not as cool as I had in my head...but you can get the gist...

I would probably extend that wire then. Would be better in the long run. Probably won't be an issue but better to be safe!

The light looks good!

      Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.

      Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.

      Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.

      I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
