Rear window leak

You can look a couple of pages back but it's leaking from the top down on the drivers side.

Wow. Yet another bummer of an issue with my 2019. At this point, my truck has had a repair every month of ownership and now this. I didn't even notice the leak, but came across this post in the forums. I went out to check my truck and sure enough, 2 basketball sized water marks on my headliner, water streaks down the window and rusted rear seat mounts. Truck is at the dealer awaiting parts. I haven't been able to read all the 119 previous pages and I have a question. My dealer is saying they need to pull my rear window and reseal, pull the rear spoiler and seal, and go through the front glass with the headliner! I realize the headliner is massive (crew cab) but Im shocked at them having to pop the front window to replace it. I asked the service technician about standard procedure and he investigated and said that chevy repair docs say to open the front window to replace the headliner. He spoke with the technicians who said they could try through the back window first, but if not would have the front glass pulled and replaced as well. Can anyone who had their headliner replaced comment on the process? Is everyone also getting a new rear glass? My dealer has always done a good job and been very meticulous on my other 6 repairs, so I have no reason to doubt them.

Well first make sure the leak is "fixed" before replacing the headliner. Mine they pulled the windshield and reinstalled it on my 19. On my 20 leaker I caught it early so no damage to headliner.

It takes quite an effort to get the rear window out, if it were my truck no way I would let them reinstall it. Especially if it has cracks in the frame

My headliner went through the front window. To replace the back glass they need to drop the headliner. So might as well get it all done at once.

They replaced my headliner when they had the rear window out and left the front window intact. It fit in easily with the seats removed.

There have been reports of the FUYAO E2 and the VITRO E9 leaking, but not sure I've seen the FUYAO E4 leak?

I just had mine replaced to this exact window yesterday. Its so cold where i am that i cannot take it to a carwash for 7 days because they want to ensure the sealant/bonding agent completely cures. They too gave me a 7yr 100K extended warranty because i was out of service for 21 days. After getting my truck back last night I noticed the headliner is completely ruined and cracked right at the back window. There are several scratches on the paint of the bed as well. One area is so bad that it needs to be painted. Dealer is going to fix the scratches and repaint if needed. Not sure what they are going to do about the headliner because i refuse to let them take the windshield out to replace it because that just opens up the possibility to more issues. My dealer is supposed to be one of the best in the area but i am extremely disappointed.

So I finally got my truck back from where they damaged a bunch of stuff when they replaced my headliner. They're still fighting me over the gouges on the passenger a pillar. In the process of fixing things, somehow they broke a piece on my rear passenger door... what the heck?

Any of you that have a sunroof, did your shade (part that covers the glass) hit the dome light after you had this procedure done? I’m assuming since the headliner had to be dropped it has something to do with it but when I slide it back now it hits. I dropped the dome light and there’s nothing in there except for the clips that hold the dome light that are hitting - which were there before.

I initially thought it could be a wire getting caught but it’s definitely hitting the light.

Any ideas of how to fix?

So which one of the windows has the most problems? I have the VITRO E9 (Jun 19 build Mexico) and knock on wood hasn’t leaked. Bought the truck on 3 October.

I have this same problem. Service advisor at dealer told me he had seen only two leaking windows in 2019 Silverados. I told him there was a service bulletin and he said I was wrong there was not. Educated him and now going in next week for service.

Had my truck in for the sealant job and not 36 hrs it was leaking again, rather than having the dealer try it again, scratch more interior panels or have to replace the window and scratch the paint etc, I decided to try something.

I wound up buying the Permatex window and glass sealant. Masked off the back window and ran a bead of it along the top of the window. The tip that comes with the tube is small enough to get in between the window and spoiler. This product is quite a bit thinner than the Kent sealant which is what I wanted to get down in every nook and cranny. Let it cure for 24 hrs before driving and waited a week to try the water test.

Time will tell but after dumping two 5 gallon buckets around the back window and spoiler it isn’t leaking at all.

I figure this probably isn’t a permanent fix, but if it can at least hold me over until GM comes up with a better fix or a new window design that doesn’t leak, it’s a win in my book.

Disclaimer: not sure if it’ll work for you and have no idea if it voids the warranty, but it is also clear and looks identical to the Kent sealant so given the non-detail oriented nature of the techs at the dealer, doubt they would notice. I wanted to have mine at least attempted to be repaired once by the dealer so it’s documented.
