That's funny right there. Ford is having issues with the 10-speed transmissions they built, that are also being used in the Silverado. I've read there's something different about the valving for the transmission for the 2 companies, and both companies made their own valving. I'll take a leaky rear window over a bad transmission. I also find Ford trucks have an even cheaper quality interior than GMs. Ford isn't a quality product. Just look at the number of recalls they have. The 2020 Explorer has 10 recalls already.

I had to laugh at what Ford wants for a 2021 F150. $50k you don’t even get leather seats. Prices for all brands of these trucks are insane really

I agree with you. I think my SLT interior is nicer than the interior on the 2018 F150 platinum I traded in.

Big test tomorrow. Leak was sealed at dealer using a glass company last week and it's actuality supposed to rain in SoCal Sunday and Monday.
Hoping for the best for you. We had massive rain here a few days ago, which was the first real test of my window tsb reseal. So far all is good.

it looks like a newer version. second post on this thread of a slider without tabs or wings.

This might be a silly question guys. I’ve been reading this thread while I wait for my truck to be built, but I’m wondering if the slider window leaks, can’t you just put a non slider in? I agree, I hate having useless buttons on my dash and things not working properly. However I think I would rather have a dry headliner and zero worries. Is there something I’m missing about why more people don’t do this?

i think it's getting what you pay for to work properly, or the way it is intended to work. However i agree after about 3 or 4 repair attempts i would be changing it to a solid window. Had i known or researched before pulling the trigger on the truck i would have opted to get a solid rear window just to cut out on one of the known problems..

I completely agree. I’m going to be paying just shy of 70k for this truck and I want everything to work like I paid for and it’s supposed to. I guess I would rather have the window not be there, and not have water coming in potentially ruining other parts of the truck. I am good friends with a head guy at a local glass company. If/when I have the problem, I’ll let him try and fix it once. After that, I’m getting solid glass. There are times when I do use the slider for carrying long tubing or lumber, but I just don’t want water issues.

I check mine every rain. In other words most days here in the Pacific Northwest. No leaks yet. If it leaks while on warranty I will let them fix it. I will make it clear when I drop it off they will be responsible for anything that they damage. There is money to be made by the aftermarket once warranties start to expire. They will find a fix. If not after warranty it will get a solid window. But someone always comes up with a fix usually cheaper than the manufacturer way. I have owned Corvettes all my adult life. That's a long time and a lot of cars. Every generation has several bad designs. The aftermarket comes out with a fix for all of them. The only exception i know of is the ABS on early C5s. And that's because the problem showed up during GMs bankruptcy and the company that made them failed. There are no plans or information to reproduce them. Although someone may have figured it out now. I have one of those but it works and it's my older one and it rarely gets driven. But in some states they won't pass inspection with the ABS light on. The problem is the unit is sealed in epoxy so it can't be repaired. I believe there will be a good fix in the near future. They sell a lot more of these than Corvettes.

what is the acceptable amount of time for a manufacturer to come up with a fix for a well known problem? It seems to me that keeping water out of the interior of a vehicle should be on the priority list during engineering. Its just sad to see that such a well documented issue is only getting the "lets put a band aid on it and see if it goes away" approach. Its not the random valve spring issue or some other random mechanical issue that only happens to a small data pool, considering the amount of trucks sold. It seems to be well into the 60 to 80 percent range of not if but when it will happen. Which in my mind should reach a trigger threshold with the manufacture to investigate and change the design on future models and come up with a 100% reliable fix for past models, not a- we will do this and see if it works approach. AND defiantly don't keep making the trucks the exact same way expecting a different result. that's the definition of insanity... With numbers this high one could only conclude that they just don't seem to care. Because they cant say they don't know about it.

Well, not a great thing to find on Christmas.... window is STILL leaking. Waited until Sat to text my service advisor just to tell him that it’s leaking again and his glass guy sucks not just because it’s still leaking but also because he got caulk smeared on the glass and the plastic by the slider. I scrapped it off the glass but still.... what’s worse is that BOTH times I told them to do the TSB while everything was apart and neither time did they do it. I’m not happy. Told him I’m not going back to him because they can’t seem to do their jobs right as I had a few other issues with his tech on top of leaking twice now as their “glass guy” can’t get it right. Going to try one more time with the dealer I actually bought the truck from and explain everything to them. IF I actually get a truck back that doesn’t leak I will then install the trim-lok I bought above the glass and at the top of the spoiler gap. Hopefully I will be good then. I’ve also contacted GM as I’ve been in contact with them for over 6 months throughout all of this to keep a record, for whatever that will do for me.

Wow sorry to hear. Mine’s been at the dealer since Dec.16th. You and a few others mentioned trim lok, can you provide a link which piece you are ordering? I’m also wondering how good a job will be done with mine.
