The update is the same if you added nav or not.  MOST likely the person that did the programming for you DID not do the USB file transfer after adding nav.  I did that after I added my nav and then the next update showed up fine. Best bet is to go to the dealer and let them do the usb file transfer to update it to get you up to the current version.  The latest is available to download. I had downloaded it prior to the OTA I was just waiting fo rate OTA to do its thing.

Once you add nav the truck is register as having nav in every way that GM says it. So its not an issue of they don't know or are not sending the correct updates out.

The tech followed all instructions that he had the parts department print off that day for that particular part number and VIN number install.

I really don't care what rev. number is showing and could care less whether the system wants to update or not...I even turned off auto update. Because, everything, I mean everything, is working perfectly, including all screens, voice commands, Bluetooth connections, screens match all controls, HVAC works, remote start works fine controlling moto,r heated seats and HVAC as programmed, perimeter light controls, Nav maps up to date ,etc. The vehicle does everything it was designed to do and everything I purchased it for... Nav upgrade works flawlessly, functions exactly as printed in the '19 Silvy Infotainment manual. ....considering the original (later?) version had the Climate Off bug which the current one does not.........and the usual reason for a newer rev is not to provide fantastic new capabilities but to fix crap in the previous version (correct one bug and maybe introduce another).... Why should I upgrade if everything works and there are no problems to correct for my particular setup?   AEN: What me worry?

I’m still waiting for the update to show up.  Anyone have an idea how long it takes GM to roll it out to everyone?

Same here - no clue if there's something not working right or if it's VIN related or what....

How do you go about manually trying to update to most current version.  I don't have my owners manual readily available...

Posted

Home screen -> Settings icon -> (don't recall tab name - one to the far left) scroll down to update and press it.  You have to have some sort of Wi-Fi connection to do this.  I don't know about all trucks, but mine can connect to any network or hotspot, just like a mobile phone - I assume this is the case with all levels of Infotainment systems since GM is pushing updates out over the air and not just via some sort of media.

So I did the upgrade and now when I try to make a call voice command says it cannot at this time ? Is there a setting I need to to reset ?

Annoyed the service department about the rev. just for laughs. From what the dealer was told the GM SD card number containing software and maps for upgrading an OIS (radio added in convenience II package over base OIR) to Nav functions is different from the part upgrading an OIT to Nav functions. The base OIR is not upgradeable. Whereas at introduction only the OIT stock in the LTZ either came with a Nav installed or was Nav ready and dealer upgradable to Nav ; the OIS was upgradable but not to Nav. functions. Later GM did introduce an OIS upgrade kit for adding a Nav which is different to compensate for hardware differences in architecture from the top of the line OIT. And the comparable versions of the software loaded for operation of the OIS with Nav functions and all optional accessories over the base RST is determined at the time of the install. Essentially the IOS operational software and Nav revs. installed were identified by GM as the most currently compatible with the identified VIN. Could be B$ just to keep me walking, connected to my network and verified there were no updates, but since everything is operating 100% a good enough explanation to keep me happy.

They honestly are full of BS. I really do know a lot about this stuff.  I added the nav myself. I did the programming myself.  The hardware is all the same.  The software is all the same. What changes is the calibrations of the other units.  For example we have the capability to add fog lights if we didn't have them. That requires they BCM to have a calibration added to the trucks list showing it now has the fog lights. GM adds the registration number to the nav upgrade kit same as fog light.  The new systems are different than the old units where they had an HMI and radio unit. they are combined. When you add nav it is so complete it also update sinister to allow you to add the connected nav feature to have the traffic info. Its hard to really explain but the units calibration is really just HEX values wither turning things on or off. Thats all.  I have a lot of experience digging DEEP into these systems and deal with them daily.

In terms of software it is the same software version all it does is turn on the nav or not.  The new units have the SD card that has all the map information on it so they can ship one hardware unit in ll the trucks and it just have the calibration correct for the truck its in nav or not. When the unit is installed it polls the truck to determine what settings should populate.

Manufacturers are making this simpler not more complicated to eliminate so many software packages to worry about.  The CTS in 18 was the first to get the new infotainment system. Infotainment made a video that they were able to turn the nav on install the SD card and it had nav.  Now the new system in the chevy is the same, except once harmon saw that they added a security seed to prevent that from being able to be done as easily as they did.

Long story short the update for the non nav is the same as the NAV.  I have used the same update on multiple trucks because I downloaded it manually since it hadn't pushed out to me yet.  Im impatient and want the update asap because I have issues with my climate showing off more times than not.

Dealers are the worst source for information on these things for the simple fact they do not specialize in this and do not want to. The main reason for OTA updates is to curtail the need for dealer visits for them.   GM has the IOS which is our 8"  with out nav.  If you have HD radio you have an IOS and thats basically the IOT minus nav being turned on.  That is the whole reason we can add the nav because they are the exact same.

Irrelevant if it is BS. You miss the point - if everything is working 100%, even better than on its the former higher rev  - it doesn't matter what rev it is running on or if there is an update available. Foolish to update solely for the sake of updating and take a chance of introducing a problem that didn't exist before. Updates are issued to correct problems or provide additional capabilities not formerly present. Nothing to fix, so unless an update can give my vehicle a capability that it never had or necessitated by a recall to address a specific issue, there is no reason to do it. "If it ain't broke, don't/why fix it". Of course I'm all in if they come up with an update will enable time travel at 88 mph.

Could be with the Nav upgrade for Infotainment 3  the Silv'y can longer run on the v805 software or  because it is a IOS head instead of a native IOT it has to run on v509 of the Denali software which might use less memory. I was there for some of the install, tech registered the chip and VIN number, GM furnished the latest software compatible with the '19 Nav upgrade dedicated for my VIN. Troublesome Climate Off disappeared  and more choice screens/colors added in the DIC, eg. Speed Sign in main cluster Either way, I tried to update after the install it said the v509 was the latest update. I'm going to leave it alone as long as everything is working fine.

.  You post about an update.  You give INCORRECT information. I replied because there was BAD info in that comment, then you replied with the second post of I dont care about rev version.  I left that alone because I thought maybe you were not understanding the intent. Then I reply to your third post where you say you do apparently care about rev version because you went to the trouble of bothering your dealer.  Again you have bad info that I was trying to correct. Then you reply again to nothing relevant in my post by saying you again dont care about Rev version.  which is it?  If you do not care then stop posting and stop feeding false info. If I see bad Info that I know I can correct I will.  No where did I state YOU MUST update or why YOU in particular need to I was correcting your bad info. Just because yours isnt broke to you doesn't mean others aren't to them.  Many are having issues these updates attempt to fix.  Chevy  is not trying to be  apple, trying to give us new improvements with new revisions they have a press conference about.
