DFM is it always on even in L and tow haul mode?

Is there a drive mode where AFM is shut off?

None of the drive modes turn it off. But L7 on an 8 speed, L9 on a ten speed do deactivate DFM. If you go up to L8 or L10 DFM is active again, because that is really no different than being in drive.

Correct.  None of the 2019 T1 new body have a V8/V4 mode indicator as DFM is more than just V8/V4, its 17 different possible combinations of any of the 8 cylinders at any given time.  Pretty sure it would get obnoxious watching it go from V8 to V6 to V7 to V5 to V3 to V4 to V8 and so on.

there is a video on here and on you tube where a GM factory person rides along with a factory scanner of some kind plugged into the truck.  The amount of times and the speed at which it changes how many cylinders are active is impressive.
