Wheel and Tire Size

Looks good, although I'd prefer a more aggressive tire. Rub much?

I was trying to go for that middle ground. Kind of aggressive looking but a true AT for better milage etc. These Falkens are one of the few tires that I could get in the size I wanted that still had those characteristics. But I agree, more aggressive would look good.

And yes, they rubbed pretty good! I did the norcal larger fender mod and now they're all good. I would recommend that mod to anybody who has rubbing issues.

I wouldn't have expected them to rub that much. At least you're honest. I love it when people claim to run 33x12.50s on aftermarket wheels with "absolutely no rubbing!"

Anyway, did you follow the mod step by step or did you do your own thing? I need to do this at some point.

I followed this write up, worked like a charm man. Hey wait a minute, it sounds a lot cooler to say it doesn't rub Blackout.

Yeah I read those "no rubbing at all" comments all the time and find some of them hard to believe. I'm guessing that I only had around 50% of my original left to right turning after the new wheels. Needless to say it was an interesting drive home the first time.

I did a lot of searching to find a way to trim without hacking up the plastic or being able to see it after, and the norcal mod seemed like the best choice. I basically followed it step by step. It was pretty scary cutting away metal with a grinder and bashing away with a hammer on my truck. But, it actually goes pretty easily and you can't even tell I did anything now. It took me an honest 5 or so hours start to finish including removing wheels etc. I could do it in about half that time now.

Please let us know how your Falkens wear over time. My dad used to run these tires on a 20" wheel application and they were nothing but trouble.

Please let us know how your Falkens wear over time. My dad used to run these tires on a 20" wheel application and they were nothing but trouble.

I will definitely let you know how these tires wear. I took a bit of a chance on these but I do like the look of them. I wanted duratracs but couldn't get them in this size. What problems did your Dad have? Just so I can look out for them.

IIRC, the main problem was uneven wearing and it usually happened within a few hundred miles. He took a road trip with the tires in a normal condition, and when he got there he noticed that they had been worn out unevenly on about a foot long patch, and I believe it was on the outside half of the tread. When he returned home the tires had bald patches that looked like slicks, no treat pattern at all! But the odd thing was that the rest of the tire was perfectly fine. I don't recall the exact reason for this but I think that the plies failed structurally and that led to the uneven and accelerated wear. And.. this happened on two sets of tires.

The Falkens on the family Honda Accord have also been horrible, they are not even two years old and are worn out and loud. And we can't even rotate because the car always ends up out of alignment, when it was just perfect before the rotation. They have been nothing but trouble.

Not sure why you are saying this unless you're talking about not having the 2" leveling kit installed.

BTW: I'm running 33x12.50's on 20" Pro Comps without any rubbing!

Same here, I rubbed plastic with 33x12.50 on a very conservative +18 offset wheel and over 5" of lift.

Maybe some don't, but mine did.

Yeah unless his truck is very different than mine I can't see how they wouldn't rub. Keep in mind my BMFs have a 0 offset. If his wheels have a different offset I guess it's possible but from experience, I can't see it. At least not on my truck!

Well, I did no modifications to the wheel wells at all. The only thing I did was install the RC 2" leveling kit, and i did that well before buying the tires and wheels. I found the wheels and tires used that came off of a 2008 Sierra. He had no lift and they didn't rub on his either. If they did, I wouldn't have bought them.

I'm not sure what the offset of these rims are. Is there a way to measure that?

I ran an 8.5" wheel with a +18, which isn't far off stock specs. My 305/55/20's didn't even come remotely close to fitting with a 2" leveling kit. Then they rubbed slightly even after the addition of a 3" body lift....mostly in reverse and really tight turns. So unless GM did some experimenting with their fender wells after 07, there are things people don't mention or don't know about their trucks.
